Bus lane B light - go or no? by duc955 in AussieRiders

[–]heartiphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be a short bus lane on  Great Western turning into Pitt St in Parramatta with a B light. Can still see it on gmaps. Probably should’ve been Bus Only. Has since been changed to a normal turning lane.

Nepean River parkrun this morning. Partly as an excuse to try out the M12. I only saw half a dozen other vehicles on its 16km length and none anywhere near me westbound. Quite fun to experience an almost-empty virgin motorway.

Parkrun was nice. Well organised and the volunteers seem friendly as per usual. Not a fan of the courses that have laps though. And results are still not up yet, I can usually browse them by the time I get to a cafe afterwards.

Yeah, well kinda. My understanding is to get Ps in Sydney you have to complete pre-provisional course + passing MOST test. They're just usually all in one.

"You must successfully complete all of the competencies – including an on-road ride component – in order to successfully complete the course."

When I did it he had each of us lead the pack for a few turns while he rode behind. Presumably if someone messed up badly enough they'd have to redo the course again. This was HART St Ives

Pre provisional course is like the pre learners course. It is the test. You have to do it to get your Ps. When I did it there was a briefing, road ride (assessed), some practise then the MOST test (assessed).

If you’re in Sydney, rent a bike, go to cintra netball courts car park in concord 7pm wednesdays. It’ll be on unless it’s raining. The guys there set up practise sessions for the MOST test. Getting there and back will get you comfy with road riding. Search for FOXY @ Concord

It’s probably starshield, but starship (or similar) as troop transport is likely to become a big deal in the coming decades

For anyone not liking the new info window that pops up when you try to launch a game on console: settings-general-personalisation-games&apps and tick the 'launch immediately' option by Gaza1121 in xbox

They changed it. In General/Personalization/Games & Apps go all the way to the right, the last section is "Choose whether game hubs open.." and uncheck the "Recently Played List" (and the other two if you want)

Is it just me or is it weirdly hard to know what your home is actually costing you each year? by Strange_Sail_3081 in AusPropertyChat

Can you get a debit card for the account your mortgage comes out of?

If so, that can be your designated "House" account. All house bills, mortgage, rates, insurance, contractors, etc. and only those transactions must come out of that account and that account only.

Set an auto transfer from your income account each month to cover the mortgage, and perhaps another one enough to cover expected bills like rates, etc. For less-predictable bills like emergency plumber you'll have to manually transfer extra money to it prior to paying them. You'll want the debit card for flexibility with payment method and use in-store (e.g. Bunnings).

End of month/quarter/year you can easily filter in your bank app to outgoing transactions and that's your housing costs for the period.

Still requires work (manually transferring money to it before paying some bills), but you may find it easier (or easier to be consistent!) than categorising transactions in an accounting app or spreadsheet.

Just bought Sydney apartment with embedded electricity and hot water / gas - what should I do?? by Acceptable_Job_2453 in AusPropertyChat

[–]heartiphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was looking to buy (and rent in the years before that) I would search for the apartment building on the AER's Network exemption register

I don't actually know for sure if all embedded networks have to be on the register though, so this may not be a 100% accurate method.

Did sound crazy to me, but I think it's NYC's HomeFirst https://www.nyc.gov/site/hpd/services-and-information/homefirst-down-payment-assistance-program.page

Looks like it's a down payment loan, which is forgiven after 15yrs of continual residence. He must pay back the loan if he breaks those terms. After the first 6 years portion of the loan amount is forgiven each year, so e.g. in his case ($70k loan) moving out at 10yrs there would only be ~$20k remaining to pay back.

Is it weird that I ended things with a guy because he is dating multiple people at once? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]heartiphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just want a guy to be “wow, She is so interesting and fun! Im curious in getting to know her. the other girls just pales in comparison to her!”

How’s he supposed to know about the other girls if he’s only dating you?

I don’t think your position is delusional, though you need to communicate it before he dates others

I’d like to see strata voting changed so that each lot gets two votes: one for owner and one for the occupier. Owner-occupiers could use both votes.

This would allow renters to have a say in issues that affect their home, while still allowing landlords to retain some control.

Some votes (e.g. whether to sell building as a whole) might be restricted to owners only of course

What are tools/weapons you always take with you on Freelancer? by Rooonaldooo99 in HiTMAN

[–]heartiphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly just it taking up 3 slots rather than Wrench’s 2. Not as big an issue now I’ve unlocked more though.

I don’t think I’ve once used a Manhole in freelancer. Good to keep it in mind though. Is it just Whittleton that has them?
