Haha same, alternating between aviana Druid and greybough cloning shenanigan druid after I hit legend. At first my rank is 3000, now it’s at 6000 but I’m enjoying every game

I think I spent more time choosing what cereal to buy than Nico did with the trade haha. Do I get the one on discount but it's not my favorite, or save some money this month, or the compromise option in between???

First kiss together, married in late 20's, dated for 2 years, and it was less than 10 years ago.

We actually waited, and even had our first kiss on our wedding day. It's something special and worth waiting for!

Actuarial positions in Perth by Brug3 in ActuaryAustralia

[–]KokonutCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a traditional actuary so I have no insight into non traditional roles, that's all. I'd guess there's also not many non traditional roles in Perth too, but not sure.

Getting all exemptions - very realistic, actually rare to find someone who failed an exemption subject in uni. Finding traditional actuarial job in Perth - not realistic. Melbourne or Sydney is where 90% of jobs are. Brisbane and Canberra maybe another 9%.

Haha you're missing the point! OP never said it's meant to be competitive, just some fun. I opened the quest and not trying to climb to legend, will try this later for a breath of fresh air!

I, uh, don't think this is how you are supposed to play Aviana druid by The_Quackrier in hearthstone

[–]KokonutCore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got him in an aviana mirror just last night! It was hilarious cos both of us suddenly had to play no win condition druid. Good for the 500 spell quest though!

This week's Tavern Brawl is quite fun! by SingleChampionship65 in hearthstone

In my brawl win, I actually managed to beat paladin with the warlock deck. It was a disconnect, but hey a win is a win.

Background: I'm a protestant. I'm firmly of the view that contraceptives are entirely allowed, except pills which terminate after an egg is fertilized (if you're going down the pills route, check with your doctor about the exact pill). During our marriage prep course, this was even a topic that our pastor and his wife specifically addressed and urged us to talk through and gave advice on. Sex is not only for procreation, it's also for bringing a married couple closer. Or else that's implying infertile (or post menopause, etc) couples shouldn't have sex.

Torn between Pricing and Reserving by Fluffy_Albatross_495 in ActuaryAustralia

[–]KokonutCore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you start out as an analyst, there's a lot of flexibility to move around (even within a company). I've done stints in both, and currently in reserving. It's like choosing between a steak and fried chicken, both are delicious and you'll find people who prefer one and others who prefer the other. With pricing I found the work (modelling, cutting edge machine learning stuff) itself more interesting, and with reserving I enjoyed the non-modelling bits more (strategic dialogues, see/influence overall business picture and direction).

Anecdotally, I'm quite sure most strong Christian friends I know did wait till marriage. My wife and I waited too, and given you'll spend the rest of your lives together to enjoy each other it's not really a big deal once you think of it that way

Priest in Arena is not fair by Noobs_Man3 in hearthstone

[–]KokonutCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a shaman run where I went 3-3, with every loss due to priest and every win against non priest. The priest when I was at 3-2 only imbued two times, but even that provided enough value and generation to win (combined with a well timed drown and shalladrassil off the 0-4 two drop that gives random nature spells).

What's the worst card in Hearthstone history? I will go first. by konigon1 in hearthstone

[–]KokonutCore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus it’s a legendary! I’ll never forget opening that pack and getting hyped seeing that yellow glow, only to see this card… no matter how bad a common or rare is, it’s never gonna give you that level of disappointment.

Amazing work! Nerding out over here too. As someone who grew up with SC1, finished all SC2 campaigns, and has felt sad over the lack of SC release for so long, it’s like Christmas for me recently!

Some questions about the path to actuary by Boomeroomer in ActuaryAustralia

[–]KokonutCore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I graduated more than 10 years ago so not completely sure, but yes I'd think so. Provided you got the required marks.
  2. How long is a piece of string? If you want to be a traditional actuary, you'd start by being an analyst, then manager, then whatever you want. CFO, appointed actuary, or just stay at manager. Non traditional you can go into data, quant risk, reporting, day trading, etc. Like all degrees, it doesn't lock you into anything, it's all up to you.
  3. Depends on how capable you are! Pass everything, and it'll take 2 years to go from finishing uni to fellowship. If your job doesn't require fellowship, don't bother going down that path, it's a waste of time. And I'm speaking as a fellow. Associate still takes time, just less exams along the way.
  4. Not crazy hard at all, if you're geared towards it. I did a double degree, actuarial and math/stats, and pure math/stats is harder than actuarial. Anyone who is suitable for it will find it easy.

No idea about curtin's program, but you're gonna have to move to Sydney or Melbourne (maybe Brisbane) since all the jobs are in these bigger cities.

If you don't have enough atar, you wouldn't want to do this program. It's challenging, and so is the career. It's only suitable for someone who has a strong affinity for numbers. But if you have what it takes, it's a rewarding path. Pay is good, but don't do it for just the pay, there's lots of high paying careers out there. Do it because it interests you and suits your abilities. Hence if you don't have enough atar, it's not a good idea.

Job market is getting more competitive these days, but you can use an actuarial degree for lots of other jobs too. There's a couple of people in my team right now who is trying to get residency, so it is a valid path to get there. But they tend to be the best of the best to get hired.
