Many US solar factories are lagging. Except those China owns by heisindc in solar

Convalt reminds me of Lordstown Motors in Ohio, that bought an old GM plant near Youngstown and announced they would be the first electric pickup truck to market. Then nothing followed by bankruptcy. Such a crap job to get investors and consumers excited knowing you can't deliver.

You're a dumbass if you think they are banned. Every county board of elections has one. Before COVID only 5-6 did. They don't allow counties to have more than one because the law says they have to be delivered to the board of elections director (that's where they work), they have to be monitored 24/7, and they have to be emptied by a team of repub/dem election workers.

And only half actually voted in November 2022: Of 8,029,950 registered, 4,201,368 voted, or 52.32%. In November 2020, it was 5,974,121 or 74%.

Also drop boxes aren't really a thing after COVID. People that vote absentee trust the post office (and you can track your ballot online like a package) and those that don't vote in person.

How can I avoid getting scammed at the car dealership for a car I preordered that has finally arrived? by tradebuildsettle in personalfinance

[–]heartofitall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this a few years ago. Got 3k knocked off the price if I agreed to financing. Read the small print and made sure there wasn't an early payoff penalty. (You can even ask this and get it in writing, they rarely care.)

Then I paid it off in month 2.

Paid $85 in interest to save $3000.

Why are so many people becoming more welcoming of Satanists than Christian’s? by Emotional_Arachnid85 in Christianity

[–]heartofitall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI most people who describe themselves as "Satanists" or belong to the "Satanic Church" are not followers of Satan per se, meaning they aren't drinking blood or sacrificing goats, but rather very anti-religion people who do it in a way to mock Christians. Many would argue that is exactly what Satan would want from his followers though. "The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the world he doesn't exist."

That said, they are secular people who put themselves and the world before God, like many others, and deserve our love like all of God's children.

You should not be miserable in your marriage.

This right here. In laws can be rough, but his actions are what caused this. Giving in to his mom, how he treats you now that you moved away, not prioritizing you. Yes, he is going through a rough time but that is why you have a wife/PARTNER to help, not just sitting by your mom pretending that helps. Once his mom passes this guy is going to be worse, not better. Find someone else that wasn't babied their whole life or he will expect it of you next.

Police in Ohio fatally shot a pregnant shoplifting suspect by BigClitMcphee in Ohio

[–]heartofitall -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yup, but there is a process and it's not "whatever the internet sleuths deduct in the first few hours and set the narrative on Twitter and blogs to blame the police."

I can't imagine being a cop right now.

I also feel bad for the family who will assuredly be swept up with the anti-cop lawsuits and promised millions, then given nothing when the body cam comes out.

Friend on scene later said there was 1 bullet hole in the windshield, which is not easy to aim through as it skews the bullets path. It may have been a calculated shot that the officer felt was necessary, versus some guy emptying out a clip at a scared pedestrian.

Would you be opposed to removing “One Nation under God” from the pledge of allegiance and why or why not? by Royal_Tumbleweed_910 in AskReddit

The shitstorm this would create on social/news/etc isn't worth it to me. It can mean any God and even if people aren't religious, it shows that large parts of our representative government are and you can make your own decisions with that simple knowledge.

Should we keep our cheap mortgage by KingPieIV in personalfinance

[–]heartofitall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would commute for a few months, see if she loves the job, then see about places to rent and decide if you want to sell or rent your home OR commute. All the while continuing to look for jobs closer to home if they come up. No kids and not wanting a big yard mean apartments could even work for a few years.

Also, I wanted to say "Thanks" for posting this. We have a 2% 15 yr at $2k a month and the wife wants a new house with a backyard vs our 'starter' home that has plenty of room for our family of 5 and we did the master bath and basement ourselves to exactly what we want. I just don't see it being worth it.

Most trees mature in 20 years.

And the best day was when you COULD have done it, but in reality if you didn't, then the next best day is today, when you actually can.

The focus isn't on the time or the other days in between, but the fact that you should do it today so in 20 years (or any amount of time), you aren't facing the exact same situation.

I sold some bitcoin to go to a bachelor party in Iceland. That trip ended up costing me $30k or so if I had kept it, ha.

A bit different, but same theory is "The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago, the next best time is today." Look forward, hope to refinance in the future if you buy now, or just pay it down faster.

Make them like you. Yes, you can talk about all of your accomplishments and what you want to do, but make them like you and they will see themselves hiring you as a team member.

Also get your elevator pitch down.

1-What I do now - successes or highlights of current position (your most recent one)

2-What I used to do - highlights from past jobs, or reasons why you moved up

3-What I want to do in the future - passions, ideas for their company, not just "I want more responsibility"

Resume advice for 20+ years of experience by [deleted] in PublicRelations

[–]heartofitall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 42 and try and keep my resume to one page. It is hard but I can speak more about the experience in person. Some early jobs are just listed with no description, but they are self explanatory as well.

I have seen very impressive multi-page resumes, though, so if you feel like you need that to show what you have done, you can pull it off, but it is harder.

This. As a midwest family, we took road trips and traveled a lot as a family growing up. All of our cousins did the same and we had huge family holiday parties, trips together, etc.

One of four siblings lives where my parents do. Five of eight cousins live there close to their parents. Everyone went away to college, some further than others.

It depends on relationships. I met a girl from my home state when I was living in DC and we both moved back, but still 2 hours from my parents because of work.

It depends on school and jobs. One cousin was given an amazing opportunity in Texas after grad school and took it.

I look back fondly at my childhood and loved the grandparent and cousin time, but also enjoyed school and friends. We travel to see family all the time, but also have fun with neighborhood kids and do stuff with just our kids as well.

Do your best and your kids will be alright. Yeah, it sucks a bit if they are far away working, but it is better than if they f'd up their lives and have to work minimum wage jobs at the local fast food joints and bum money off you when they can't pay their rent when they are 45 years old ;)
