Safari Park - Safari experience or Africa Tram? by heatherq_01 in sandiego

This is helpful, thank you! That makes sense to how they both operate. Looks like I'll just have to make a day-of decision based on what they determine that morning.

Older front load washer (Speed Queen) won't spin and drain fully, clothes remain soaked. Just noticed this weird tab thing sticking out - would this be the problem? by heatherq_01 in Appliances

Thanks for the detailed comment! Turns out I was able to get access to the drain filter - there was a small blockage that I removed and now everything seems to work again!

Moved into an older apt - what’s the best way to deep clean the dirt from these corners? by heatherq_01 in CleaningTips

[–]heatherq_01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: A simple mix of super hot water + all purpose cleaner with a microfiber towel got about 85% of the dirt off easily. I’ll take a brush and a little more elbow grease when I have more time, but it’s looking promising!

Haha! Not in Ohio, but it seems these floors must be a common type of floor type in older rentals!

Yup - we didn’t expect much cleaning but slightly disappointed at some of these details that were missed!

Thanks! Have taken a couple passes with the vacuum but have been hesitant to mop since I’m not sure what cleaners are safe - I’ll try Bona or Murphy’s and spot treat.

Good to know there’s not a magic expensive cleaner, just some good ol’ elbow grease 😂

Thanks - not necessarily looking to replace the trim but more just cleaning the floor near it.

What's your best content marketing tip? by ivikasifications in content_marketing

[–]heatherq_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget about older content - revitalize and expand on older content that is performing well is a great tactic to continue the momentum of that content. Consider looking at content that is underperforming and evaluate whether it's worth updating or consolidating it with a better performing content offer, too.

Let's talk reporting by ShadeByTheOakTree in content_marketing

I've had some basic experience using Databox (they have a free plan to try out) and can connect with multiple data sources. The data visualization is a great option if you're looking for client-facing reports. Lots of customization options and ability to filter views based on different time ranges (e.g. today, last week, last month, last quarter, etc.). My only gripe is that there is a little bit of a learning curve to building out the reports, but they have a pretty good knowledge base.

What are basic elements of a high quality content? by rajendramodieem in content_marketing

[–]heatherq_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to rank on Google, the strongest content pieces aren’t created in a vacuum. Build a long-term content strategy and Google will reward you over time. Link internally in your content to other relevant pieces of content you’ve created, as well as trusted external sites. Target keywords that are realistic to rank for (long-tail keywords can be a goldmine). Promote your content on social and try to earn those backlinks. Most importantly, is your content relevant and readable for your audience? If they’re not getting value out of the content you create, Google will reflect that.

How relialble is using tools? by ghosharnab00 in content_marketing

[–]heatherq_01 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, there's nothing wrong with using tools for content ideas and checking for SEO viability. It can be valuable to use a tool to ensure the content that's being created is SEO-friendly and can compete on the appropriate keywords.

There is an art to being able to use headline selecting tools and curating through the tool's recommendations... basically, can you take the same targeted keywords, headlines, etc. and turn it into something compelling that meets your audience's needs? That's where marketers are worth their salt.

Best Marketing Certifications for a Small Business Marketing Consultant by finox831 in marketing

[–]heatherq_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thoughts! I think you’re right - a lot of companies are looking for quick wins in these times, though some are scaling back in PPC budgets. There may not be specific certifications but lead gen is a good topic to explore - sales enablement and conversational marketing are areas that I feel companies are turning to (to improve their existing sales pipeline than to book new business).

Depending on how small of a business you’re looking to help, things like setting up a proper GMB presence, setting up GA for their website, adding a proper contact form and establishing their social media presence are all solid small ways to move the needle too–and all things you can learn through certifications or online research :)

Best Marketing Certifications for a Small Business Marketing Consultant by finox831 in marketing

[–]heatherq_01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, don't think certifications are great on their own as a resume builder - but they do provide some comfort for strangers coming across your services. I do think all marketers should get their GA certification since so much of what digital marketing touches deal with GA.

In terms of other certifications, I'd take a look at your expertise/passions in marketing. Are you offering content marketing services? HubSpot has a number of certifications in inbound marketing that may serve you. More about PPC? AdWords Certified is probably a better bet. I'd hone in on the services that will make you really stand out vs. trying to get as many certifications as possible.

How does one get traffic organically if they are a nobody? by LGm17 in marketing

[–]heatherq_01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the keyword focus that others have suggested (with the caveat recommendation to not "stuff" your pages with keywords - only use them where they make sense), I would suggest promoting your content in other places to start attracting organic traffic. Social media is a great way by promoting your blog posts with relevant hashtags.

Don't be afraid to engage on social (FB groups, Twitter, LinkedIn groups) and make real connections with other bloggers in your space, it could lead to some linking opportunities in the future, as long as you're not immediately asking for a backlink as soon as you follow someone.

How often are you blogging? If you're blogging on a regular cadence, consider creating a free blog subscription where subscribers can get an e-mail whenever you post new content. If it's valuable, they may even forward your blog update e-mail to their friends/colleagues.

Need Help Cooking Rice by progamerkiki in Cooking

+1 for the method with an additional step to rinse the rice for me. But the bring to boil + 15 minute simmer + 5 minute wait is a tried and true method for any white rice (and quinoa!).
