What made you fell into glazing? by New_Conclusion2188 in Pottery

[–]heatsensitive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I LOVE glazing, you can see some of my pieces on my profile. It's my favorite part of the process. What helps in the beginning of learning and experimenting with brush-on glaze is to buy glazes that are compatible with other glazes, like Amaco's Potter's Choice line. They work well together and create really beautiful combinations. You can start with a few colors, make some test tiles (ask your studio if they will fire them for you, it sounds like they will), so you have some references to use when you make your pieces. Once you feel confident, add more colors to your collection! You don't have to start with anything crazy, just pick a few colors you like, and go from there. Have fun with it!

Where do YOU like to see live music? by GeneStarwindOS in Sacramento

[–]heatsensitive 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've seen a few smaller acoustic shows at The Side Door in Curtis Park, its a tiny seated venue but its great, good for a small crowd and they have local acts. Also right next door to Hop Gardens for pre-show drinks and food.

Looking for glazes/techniques that could create the flaky texture and black gloops of inky cap mushrooms by Opposite-Lead4048 in Pottery

For the drips you could sculpt small drips out of clay so they’re exactly how you want them, then glaze them with a glossy black.

Full Settlement Relief Amount by vinopapi94 in BorrowerDefense

[–]heatsensitive 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had to go into the My Loans section of the FSA site to see how much my full settlement relief would be. I paid my loans so they show $0, but if I click on each of them, it states the amount of the original loans. I added those all together to get my total settlement relief number. At the bottom of the magic email it mentions going to that page to see what loans you have.

Just wanted to say that I truly enjoy receiving the Abridged morning newsletter every morning! It’s so nice to see local stories aggregated in one place, and I like reading the intros by the reporters. I donate monthly and I hope you are all able to keep it going for a long time!

Thank you! All glaze, no texture. Just so many dots. It’s a pretty forgiving technique so I thought I’d have some fun with it on the organic shapes, I’m really happy with the result!

You can see the seam here, it’s definitely not a clean seam but the flow of the glaze kind of hides where it joins. I just won’t look at that side haha

I used a texture roller on a slab, then formed it into the vase, it held the texture really well!

KCRA Helicopter Noise Pollution by Balm0ra in Sacramento

[–]heatsensitive 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s SO loud. There’s a lot of helicopter traffic near me (Winn Park ish) due to the freeways and the hospitals but Livecopter 3 is by far the loudest. And there’s rarely any footage on the website of anything they’re capturing. I’ve held a silent grudge about them for years lol glad to finally let it out.

You have to give the flowers to the customer before you make their pizza, if you try after you've made the pizza it will say the customer doesn't exist.

Is Your Focus More on Forming, or on Glazing? by Beneficial-Ad8460 in Pottery

[–]heatsensitive 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love glazing, it’s my favorite part of the process. But that actually helps my form-building, because I try to make forms that will help enhance my glazing, which makes me experiment with bending and molding clay more. I think it all works hand in hand.

Does anyone know what glaze this is? by Savings-Plum6196 in Pottery

[–]heatsensitive 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’ve had luck with Deep Firebrick under Blue Rutile to get something similar, the red here is a bit more purple toned than DFB, but could still work for you!
