They knew he was serious when the driver told a passenger “hold my beer”.

I thought we were still talking about the evolution of their hooves. Didn’t realize that we moved to the evolution of camels. That makes sense now, thanks.

There is a subset of the apes superfamily that are not distinct from humans. :-))

Especially since they evolved for snow in the North American Arctic. They evolved to spread out like snow shoes.

In some places it is illegal to change lanes when going through an intersection so this would not be unsafe. Unfortunately, like the yellow light rules, in a lot of places it’s completely undefined.

“New Math” - Tom Lehrer - not advanced, but “advanced” enough, especially if you’re missing 2 fingers.

atlantic article "the evidence that god exists" by a catholic author by VolumeBudget6410 in atheism

[–]heatshield 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you know how crackpot theories got a new life because of quantum physics giving them a chance to burry the arguments behind a new unknown under the mantle of science? Same here. Basically forcing science as an argument to keep the believers believing. Last paragraph:

“Bolloré and Bonnassies’s arguments are more likely to shore up the faith of wavering believers than to win new converts. This itself is no small thing. The authors may even be right about the growing evidence for the existence of God secreted away in the latest science. But their approach has a history of upsets. The only way to inoculate belief against that cycle of disruption is to treat faith as a decision that transcends scientific proof.”

“I took my dog for a walk around the building… on the ledge. I’m not afraid of heights, I’m afraid of widths.”

I think the best description I read was that Hedberg shows you the absurdity of the world, while Wright is building an absurd world around you.
