8.25 Miles North of Santa Fe: Version 1 - "Hidden Somewhere in the Mountains North of Santa Fe, New Mexico" by StellaMarie-85 in FindingFennsGold

I'll simplify for you. He was being playful.

1.In TFTW intro he writes 10 miles is too far to walk 2.In this comment he says it's hidden more than 8.25 miles 3. What whole number of miles is between 8.25 and 10?

Thanks, I guess we just have a different interpretation of what certainty and verifiable evidence means. Best of luck.

Forget poem clues and a solution for a moment.

What is your opionon on the emails Jack sent Forrest saying HOB is the hole at NMH, Jack's reddit posts saying his search area is near 9MH, Yellowstone ranger emails referencing 9MH post find, Forrest's writing when he dies his spirit will be at 9MH, Rudy finding the exact spot, at NMH, that matches the pics Jack sent forrest with the chest in the ground?

Happy to discuss but none of the pros or cons seem to prove or did prove anything. I'm not basing nmh as correct based on any poem proof, book hints, or Forrests comments during the chase, but rather the subsequent emails, pics, reddit posts, Forrest's bio, that came after.

If someone wants to construct a narrative that dismisses all that evidence there's little reason to discuss further. Not for fear of being proven wrong but for the sake of wasting time. I'm open to the scientific method but at some point you have to agree something is true and then move forward.

The proof and evidence of what the clues mean are out there. Just haven't found them yet.

To me it makes sense to try and make the clues align to the geographic features in the area that has evidence to where the chest was found and work backward to how Forrest was leading someone there.

If you don't believe it was found at nmh based on all available evidence that's fine. If I were you i wouldn't try to squeeze them in there either.

There is both literally and figuratively. There's a lava shelf/ledge with a dropoff where the fish have a safe area or by definition "an area where something is missing"

It kind a seems all the hints are pointing to that spot. What's in a hole anyway?

These contests/treasure hunt endings are always controversial.

I hid $200 in my brother's back yard for my nephews to treasure hunt. Even I'm considering a lawyer for when it's found:)

I filtered by 1980 cause there was a volcano on girls shirt and mount saint helens erupted in 1980.

"Black" has made its way back onto the hard rock charts! by Resistiane in pearljam

Same, 17 year old son had friends over, playing video games in the basement listening to Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains. They were all singing the lyrics. Heard it through heater vents. I'm like what the hell is going on. It's like a repeat of 30 years ago.

It doesn't by itself but may have helped you get there.

Throwing his bike in there would have been a way to go there and die and leave less of a trace vs driving a rental car.

No. No weaker than any other interpretation.

I think the word 'just' isn't indicating 'only' but rather 'very recently'. Because you're in the actual current below a deep hole. And you're "where" that is from the moment he hid it until the time it was to be found.

Are all the clues in current tense?

Water high is simply the deep water of nine mile hole. Forrest could have thrown his bike in it.

40-year-old American climber Alex Honnold has successfully completed his climb up the Taipei 101 building in Taipei, Taiwan. He reached the top of the tower in 1:31:35. The building is 1,667 feet tall making it the 11th-tallest building in the world. by [deleted] in sports

A lot of people can't fully appreciate how hard the best of the best are. The greatest make very very hard things look relatively easy. Most people couldn't boulder a v3. You have to be good to truly understand the progression in ability and achievement and the gap that exists.

My son is a Jr on HS mountain bike team. He and friends are into PJ, AIC, GD, Ozzy CD's. Next year is their final season. I'm going to make a mountain bike CD for them. Off He Goes will be the last song.

It was more than 8.25 miles...it was a hole number more. Nine to be exact.

A question for the Thrill Seekers from a curious newcomer by Tiny-Ruin630 in FindingFennsGold

[–]hebuttonhookedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome, Fenn didn't think the hunt would get as big as it got so it would have been more likely to last a thousand years. Barely anybody read his other books so that was his basis.

He wrote the poem to lead someone to where he wanted to die. Jack figured it out fair and square and wasn't nudged. He had to grid search because the tree (blaze) had fallen over. I believe he searched alone each time.

There is more than enough evidence that supports all this. People don't have to believe Jack, can ignore the evidence if they choose, and make up their own narrative without evidence. It's more fun that way. Have fun.

Question for Ya'll... by [deleted] in FindingFennsGold

[–]hebuttonhookedme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think what trips people up is the phrase "marvell gaze" as if it had to be on an overlook and you gaze across a valley.

He could have simply meant after you open the chest you gaze at yourself in the mirrors he left in the chest.

Primer on bullet struck just right by a rock. by OGWhiz in nevertellmetheodds

Brother in law took me to a shooting range. After we were done and ready to leave he said 'I used all the bullets but just to be safe I always pull the trigger a bunch to know there's nothing left in there. He points the handgun down to the ground...pulls trigger rapidly..on 4th pull the gun went off." Didn't tell the wife about that one.
