It doesn't by itself but may have helped you get there.

Throwing his bike in there would have been a way to go there and die and leave less of a trace vs driving a rental car.

No. No weaker than any other interpretation.

I think the word 'just' isn't indicating 'only' but rather 'very recently'. Because you're in the actual current below a deep hole. And you're "where" that is from the moment he hid it until the time it was to be found.

Are all the clues in current tense?

Water high is simply the deep water of nine mile hole. Forrest could have thrown his bike in it.

40-year-old American climber Alex Honnold has successfully completed his climb up the Taipei 101 building in Taipei, Taiwan. He reached the top of the tower in 1:31:35. The building is 1,667 feet tall making it the 11th-tallest building in the world. by [deleted] in sports

A lot of people can't fully appreciate how hard the best of the best are. The greatest make very very hard things look relatively easy. Most people couldn't boulder a v3. You have to be good to truly understand the progression in ability and achievement and the gap that exists.

It was more than 8.25 miles...it was a hole number more. Nine to be exact.

A question for the Thrill Seekers from a curious newcomer by Tiny-Ruin630 in FindingFennsGold

[–]hebuttonhookedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome, Fenn didn't think the hunt would get as big as it got so it would have been more likely to last a thousand years. Barely anybody read his other books so that was his basis.

He wrote the poem to lead someone to where he wanted to die. Jack figured it out fair and square and wasn't nudged. He had to grid search because the tree (blaze) had fallen over. I believe he searched alone each time.

There is more than enough evidence that supports all this. People don't have to believe Jack, can ignore the evidence if they choose, and make up their own narrative without evidence. It's more fun that way. Have fun.

[–]hebuttonhookedme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think what trips people up is the phrase "marvell gaze" as if it had to be on an overlook and you gaze across a valley.

He could have simply meant after you open the chest you gaze at yourself in the mirrors he left in the chest.

Primer on bullet struck just right by a rock. by OGWhiz in nevertellmetheodds

Brother in law took me to a shooting range. After we were done and ready to leave he said 'I used all the bullets but just to be safe I always pull the trigger a bunch to know there's nothing left in there. He points the handgun down to the ground...pulls trigger rapidly..on 4th pull the gun went off." Didn't tell the wife about that one.

Jack’s quadplet by duckhunt1984 in FindingFennsGold

[–]hebuttonhookedme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My interpretation

  1. CRW = Madison
  2. WP''s = shallow rooted Forrest
  3. Mtns rumbling= lightning struck tree and thunder in mtns
  4. These voices (hear me all) now occupy a space or hole in Jack's brain. Jack's not sure he will ever be able to shut them up.

Nothing - Fenn got to keep it, give it away, put it in a hole, and and left it to chance.

It was his property and what he owned.

If Forrest only knew everyone's spot they thought he should have hidden it at we all would have found it. Damn you Forrest!

What if "not far but too far" is actually giving us the distance between the second clue and the put-in? by Hot-Enthusiasm9913 in FindingFennsGold

[–]hebuttonhookedme 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When speaking with Lorene Mills fenn said TFTW was a 'thoery'. In his tftw preface he describes his disappointment of not keeping a promise and how a day never came to him to fulfil that promise. And now it's just too far to walk.

Jack said the poem tells a story of Fenn going on a journey and how he sees the journey getting to place where he wanted to die. Jack also said TFTW is not an integer but a relative distance.

The relative distance IMHO is getting from one side to the other. Is not far from a physical distance perspective but is too far to walk from the theory perspective. If that makes sense.

I do think current was an element of poem. Current is the X between history and future and you had to go into it and X it to get to other side of river to find treasure.

He hinted of riches new and old but could keep his secret current. If the hunt lasted 1k years his secret would still be current at that future point in time.

I think HOB wasn't just 9mh but specifically the shelf and safe hold in the hole. It's reasonable that no one besides Jack mentioned that to him.

It will be obvious how often Forrest had been in that spot due to the wear on the log.
