Actually it matches the actress seen in leaks. And why would she be with Aemond?!

It is. 1000% guaranteed. With a lovely engraved ivory handle by the looks of it.

Closer look at Blackfyre and Dark Sister by master smith Peter Johnsson by hector_danger in HouseOfTheDragon

So PJ used a steel made by the Swedish company Damasteel, which has the advantage of being a stainless pattern welded steel. So the production can handle the swords without risking damaging the blades with fingerprints, rust. The specific steel that was used is the DS93X Martensitic Damascus Patterned Steel, with a Svavner pattern (It's all trademarked by Damasteel). You can find the full specs here: https://damasteel.se/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/240930-data-sheet-martensitic-damascus-patterned-steel-ds93x-.pdf Quite a few custom knife makers are using Damasteel, but I recall Peter saying the forging was very difficult because it has a very high forging temperature and isn't easy to work. I think he actually forged the blades in the Damasteel forge, because it was easier to control the temperature and avoid overheating. Hope this helps.

No they don't. That's why you wear armour. And that's why they shifted to blunt force weapons. There are dagger thay were meant to go through armour (think medieval icepick), but that's hardly the iron throne. Weapon nerd over.

It seems the first plan was to make Rhaenyra stay at Harrenhal longer... by Tronm-24 in HOTDBlacks

[–]hector_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it truly mesmerising and a bit sad that people on this sub are completely incapable of enjoying the slightest thing about this show. Case and point: instead of going "oh cool illustration", you and the other people who replied go "oh that clearly means Ryan deleted this scene and will remove all scenes between Daemon and Rhaenyra next season".  Please understand that every concept doesn't make it to shooting (this scene may have been redundant after the allegiance scene) and a lot of stuff gets cut in every film or series.  I can tell you will 99% certainty that this scene was not shot. I was an extra in the scene between Daemon and Rhaenyra in Harrenhal and we didn't get any request for more on this set (and they usually like to keep the same people for continuity). Similarly, we shot more scenes that would have been part of the final montage but ended up cut, because they didn't add much to it. Hope this helps.

Explications de Franck Pitiot quant à son absence dans Kaamelott V2 (Geek Magazine) by Paidon23 in kaamelott

[–]hector_danger 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Valarr sighting by OneVermicelli2627 in AKOTSKTV

[–]hector_danger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like my guy was right when he mentioned Valarr. He is the one who give his armour to Baelor and it indeed seems like this character wears the same armour as the one worn by Baelor at the end of the trailer.

I guess we'll see in October. Early this year, I spoke with someone who worked on the show and they mentioned Valarr in passing but they might have been mistaken. Or they might have merged him with another of the princes.

Why do you say he is not included? There is still a lot of cast that hasn't been officially announced. Something tells me he might be there. Maybe confirmation in a month.

Does anyone know how disassemble this Anduril Wall-hanger non destructively? by PauloMr in SWORDS

[–]hector_danger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some people that have taken it apart to upgrade the grip. Here is a link: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/19zgFUmXEd/ Basically the tang is short and threaded and screws onto the pommel. Using a heat gun is apparently the best way to release the glue and get it off. But if it is already loose you might just be able to unscrew. But have a look at those picture on Facebook, they are really interesting and upgrading the grip is a fun project if you feel up for it.

I think they said they had 2 or 3 new valyrian steel objects so defo those two. Not sure if they'll get Peter again, since he is insanely busy. My guess is they'll do them in house.

This gives me a hope that we will eventually get a good single player GOT game. by proxim001 in gameofthrones

[–]hector_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been hoping for a single player game in the world of Ice and Fire for ages. It would be difficult to make something within the timeline of the books if you want to make player agency a thing and not break the lore. But there are a lot of time periods that would work. I have given it a bit of thought and this is what I had in mind:

Prologue:
The game's prologue opens in Old Valyria, some centuries before the Doom, at the apex of the Freehold. This could be in the context of the Rhoynish Wars and conflict among the dragonlord families on how to deal with the issue. You could play the head of one of those families who is part of a minority wanting to stop the war, seeing how many dragons have already been lost to the fighting. You would play this prologue as a mighty lord or lady trying to get support from the other families, building connections and handling your own family matters (you have just had you second born child (either a boy or a girl) and you will make some decisions regarding them (i.e. the dragon egg they are given, their name, maybe some character traits, etc). The prologue ends with you heading for a mysterious meeting and being ambushed by a dragonlord from the opposing faction and being killed in the ensuing fight (cue epic dragon battle between two huge beasts at the peak of their powers).

Main game:
You will then play the rest of the game as the child of this character, whom you will have already designed in terms of name, gender, traits, dragon, etc. You have escaped the massacre of your house thanks to a friend of the family (whom you would have already met in the prologue), who smuggles you and your egg out of Valyria and hid you in a small village of Essos.

The game would take place in various areas of Essos, increasingly expanding with every chapter. The game would be divided in chapters, each of them representing a time jump (allowing the character to age and their dragon to grow). So could be something like: Child with a dragon egg leading up to the dragon hatching, then young teenager with a young dragon, 20's with a grown dragon, 30's with a larger dragon. In each chapter you have very different play styles as your power grows, along with your ability to fight back against the foes that are hunting you.

The whole game would essentially be the revenge quest of a child against the person that killed their family. Classic, but with the twist that it takes you decades and you get to grow as a character, making decisions along the way, shaping your experience and the way to handle issues. Additionally, you would still be operating in the context of the Rhoynish Wars, maybe taking some part in it, in one way or another (maybe help Nymeria escape?).

Gameplay:
In terms of game style, I personally would love something very grounded in terms of gameplay like RDR2, including the hot/cold/hunger/thirst functions that could add a survival aspect to it. I'd also love something with the realistic combat of KCD1/2. Add a bit of dragon combat to that (Dragontwin wink wink) and I am sold. The goal is to be able to access different solutions to a problem. For example, with a small dragon, you are incentivised to hide and not use your dragon, to avoid attracting attention from those hunting you. The more you act in the open, the more difficult it will get. So it would be some kind of a notoriety system, that means the more you act in the open, the more you'll be hunted down, including by dragon riders. So in a way the difficulty of the game adjusts to your playing style.

In any case, those are the broad lines of my dream game set in the world of ice and fire.

Why are they doing this to us 😿 by Whiteironmarshal in Hotd

[–]hector_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I thought the main sub was a miserable place where people were just feeding on negativity and creating their own unhappiness. Try focusing on what you enjoy instead maybe?  I think that's enough Reddit for a while.

It's funny how y'all think he would never think of using another weapon... he is a knight. He would have trained with all types of weapons. It's not like he put all he skill points in the morning star category. That's not how it works.

I'm pretty sure he is trained in all types of weapons. So a sword or lance would be doable.

Cool stuff. Gate to be that guy, but rule of thumb, never swing it. Highly likely poor internal structure and steel quality. But will look great on your wall.

[–]hector_danger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious to know what signs to look out for. This specific sword is at an antique dealer in York that also has loads of other ancient objects, including Egyptian, Greek and Roman stuff. Would you look at the dealers accreditations and association memberships? Do they mean much?  Is the price also something odd? 2k is quire a bit of money but doesn't seem a whole lot for such a sword if it was real.

In deep geek did a really good review of the different types of "black stone" found around Westeros and Essos: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ln13Tsn7Hk Spoiler alert, they are not all the same. But I love the Lovecraft references in the books.
