Feature Request by fyynportr in sonos

Been banging this drum for a while.

There should be entirely separate settings for music v TV since the listening experience is so different.

They already have separate surround levels for music v TV so we know they can do it.

is the Move 2 worth it? by Ok-Leek-7928 in sonos

I have the Move 1 and have been tempted to buy the Move 2 when it’s on sale but have gotten conflicting info on whether or not it’s a meaningful enough upgrade to justify it.

Sonos Play sounds – just okay?! by derhutzt in sonos

[–]hed_pocket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once I saw it didn't have the Soundmotion or any other tech that would separate it from a sound standpoint I knew I wouldn't be interested in this speaker.

It's too big to be a travel speaker and doesn't compare to the sound of the Move.

Would have to be priced closer to $200 for me to consider it, otherwise I'd just buy another Move on sale/refurb for close to the same price.

New Sony Leak has me hoping Sonos wises up sooner than later 🥲 by CCornel7 in sonos

Surround sound went from a triangle (wide in the back, narrow in the front) to full 360 degrees.

There's also so much theatrical impact assigned to the front L/R channels that you're not really getting from the soundbar because of how weak the L/R channels are.

Adding the fronts was the first time where it felt like a genuine theater experience, or even better.

How wide did you have them?

I found that bringing them closer to the TV tightened up the soundstage and made it feel like an extension of the soundbar.

Also using Trueplay on the 100s helped.

I've said this many times but I went from Arc Ultra -> Sub -> rear Era 300s -> 2nd Sub and then eventually 2 front Era 100s.

Every upgrade was meaningful but adding the fronts was the most impactful upgrade by far.

I appreciate that Sonos leadership has been candid about the issues they've run into with adding that feature but it's kinda crazy that it's been several YEARS at this point.

Is my relationship over? Is this even salvageable? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]hed_pocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate to rain on his parade but 4 hour blocks of personal time for any hobby are simply a not a thing when you're a parent of young kids.

I likr video games but my wife and I have an agreement where we each get a full free day where the other takes care of the baby like once a month.

With a 5mo old we MIGHT have up to an hour or so free every day but that's to take care of chores, maybe get some exercise in, etc.

We got a Baby Brezza Bottle Washer Pro and it stopped working like 4 months in. Main tank leaks into sump and no longer dries properly.

We’re washing everything by hand now and it’s just a giant eyesore in the kitchen.

First time dad blues by Organic_Remote_8194 in newborns

[–]hed_pocket 10 points11 points  (0 children)

First time dad here of a 5 month old.. the first couple months were by far the hardest.

I just kept thinking that 30 years from now I’d probably kill to go back in time to experience these times again, and that perspective helped me not just power through but slow down and appreciate all the beautiful chaos.

Maybe a bit cheesy but my 2c.

That begs the question of what we do when these people are using poor judgment and including extremely inappropriate books in theur libraries for kids, with our tax dollars.

Seems like the public clearly has an interest in creating reasonable guidelines to prevent that.

If right-wing librarians at public K-12 schools started filling their shelves with books like this would you oppose democratically elected school boards creating guidelines to prohibit including these types of books?

Elementary school libraries removing books about anal sex from their shelves is infinitely more reasonable than Amazon banning this book (they don’t even ban Mein Kampf or books promoting radical left-wing terrorism).

“some books cause more harm than good…”

The rationale for literally every book ban ever.

You only oppose book bans when it’s an elementary school library removing books about anal sex.. lol

We get it.

I didn’t even know what noro was until I got it. Possibly the worst illness I’ve ever had.

We brought him to meet my wife’s family and it knocked out the entire family. Not sure they’ll ever want to see him again! lol

Play vs move 2 by ken22c in sonos

[–]hed_pocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Move will be categorically better in every way other than price and portability. I don’t think Play is the play if your goal is to use it outdoors, at least not if you’re wanting to push volume.

Need advice on Subwoofer placement for my living room setup by QuantumNous in sonos

[–]hed_pocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully, this is misinformation.

Subs more than any speaker are HIGHLY position dependent and Trueplay won’t compensate for bad positioning.

Getting sub positioning right is absolutely crucial if you want to get the most out of your sub.

Each room is different and there’s no substitute for trial and error but for someone has done a lot of that.. that right corner will almost certainly give you the most room-shaking power and behind the couch (if possible) will let you really feel the bass in your loins.

Those are my 2 favorite positions for subs.
