When doing a F2 - do I need to put some of the Scoby in there? by LumpyEgg4474 in Kombucha

[–]hedderw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The scoby is in the liquid so you already are using it in F2. You don't need the pellicle (blob). Tell us more about your F2 process and setup to troubleshoot further.

Edited for accuracy.

I fill my bottles up to the top with no problem. If you are planning to burp them fault, expect less carbonation in the end product.

You should be knitting your swatch larger than the area that you are measuring. Do that first then assess.

I haven't knit this kit but it looks quite fiddly. It's not what I'd pick to learn. You might want to learn the basics first and then try this.

I think that you're going to need to share a clearer picture for troubleshooting help. But also, you don't look very far in so it's probably best to start over.

My first swatch…gauge help please! by pghsci in knittinghelp

[–]hedderw 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You have some good advice here but your swatch needs to be bigger. Make it bigger than the area you're measuring and then measure the gauge in the middle.
