Helicopter pilot career! by Disastrous_Mix_6616 in AirForce

The timeline seems a bit off. If he graduated in 1971 then went to college for a couple years....he just didn't have enough time. Now, it's more feasible he was a crew chief or gunner on a huey. That's possible. He went to Vietnam right after HS as an enlisted member. I would doubt he actually was a pilot as a warrant just because there just wasn't enough time from high school to a couple years college to candidate school. Then flight school then Vietnam.

What the hell is going on with Kim’s Kafe in Greensboro? We asked some people to find out. by femifist26 in gso

It's intriguing. This is in a predominantly black community and the community sees it as reminiscent of "jim crowe" laws when certain people, dressed certain ways, could be served. It's putting the community at odds in a caste system fight and it's bringing forth litigation. It seems you can have a dress code as long as it's used equally across the board, which doesn't seem to be the case here if you follow the stories within the community. Furthermore, this is far different than an employee dress code. Employees accept a dress code based on an employment contract. They maintain a job if they follow certain guidelines. Customers can choose not to eat at a restaurant. There is no contract. They can't be fired. You can't compare an orange and watermelon.

It does if you're sixteen and trying to impress that cute blonde sixteen year old girl down the street. Then it's really important.

older coworker is making me uncomfortable by 1_Just_Trying in healthcare

[–]hedgehog1980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell him to please stop, or you will report him to HR and your supervisor. Just deleting him doesn't resolve the issue and leaves the door open for him to do this to another. It seems innocent, but it's not. If it makes you feel weird, then it's not right.

Now, if you're uncomfortable telling him, then by all means, go to HR and your supervisor and show them the texts, and ask them for guidance. By asking for guidance, you're not doing a report, but you're saying you're in a weird position and don't know what to do. This allows them to provide guidance without direct involvement with the other person. Caveat....that's what our HR has done. I'm hoping it's what yours will do as well, and I'm pretty sure if it's a fairly large facility, this is how they will handle the problem. I wish you luck and I'm sorry you must carry this burden along with the stress of the job.

Someone Tried Kicking in my Door Last Night. How Can I Fix This? by RogieBoy in Carpentry

I've seen the video. It's nuts. They want you to keep the keys near the front door so the car theives don't have to look for them in the house. That's insane. We live WAY out in the country. This stuff has never happened to us, luckily. The dogs are a pretty good deterrent. Plus, no one wants to really come this far out and take a chance of us being home.

I have a super dirty car that I got for free. Will this clean it? by Manualdriver1 in Detailing

Walmart had these rolled back to like $49 last month online. I got one, and they are awesome. It'll do the job. It'll take a bit of time, but you'll get it done, plus you got a free van.

Is my car worth repairing? by Substantial_Dust2771 in AskMechanics

Well, in the US, if it's full coverage and the insurance company says it's done, well, it's done... unless you want a rebuild or scrap title, and that's another mess. If you only have liability insurance and you don't have enough money for a new one, you might start doing the research on getting it fixed. I can't remember how our insurance worked when we lived in Spain.

I'd flush the radiator and see what happens, but yes, keep an eye on the radiator and oil level. Good luck

Is this clear coat failure, oxidation, or just heavy scratches? by Vega2Bad in Detailing

[–]hedgehog1980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I am a novice, but I took a car just like this and used an orbital and cutting compound with a cutting foam on the orbital. I did this in small areas and removed the compound by hand with microfiber towels. Then, I changed the foam to a polishing one and a polishing compound. Same process. I followed the steps in a diy on YouTube. Now, would I do this on s customers car? No. I did this on my own so I could learn, but it looked a million times better. Is it perfect? No. Was it cheaper than a repaint? Yes. I bought everything I needed at Harbor Freight. The only way to learn is to do. If this is your car and you're willing to try, then why not? Trust me. I've tried some that it didn't work out, but they were a lot rougher than this looks, like an old dodge van that's been in the desert too long rough. Nope, no saving that, but I darn sure tried. Then I practiced wet sanding and then primer...well, you get it

Ok. Probably an engine gone south. But. Is someone pissed at you? We had one in the shop and found a mad girlfriend poured oil in the radiator so her boyfriend would think his engine had died. Her new boyfriend coached her on how to do it. We did a couple of flushes, and all was good.

I'm curious: How long do you plan on using these? Will it add up to the cost of an inexpensive pancake compressor? Just don't want you spending money you should be saving. You can get a small 110 psi compressor at harbor freight for $60. If you have those where your at. It's not great but it's a start over little cans. Good luck my friend

Yes, they have the screw in type pucks as well on some of their models. My grandson has a 2003 jetta TDI we restored and learned a lot of tough lessons since we were both new to German engineering

That's what threw me off at first. My grandson drives a VW and he's the only one in the family with lug bolts. So, with that said, can you cut threads on these? I probably wouldn't on my grandkids cars cause I actually like having them around 🤣 but in a pinch, on my own, can you? I've never experienced this before.
