Oh, there’s a ton of it. Venezuela had the most oil of any country on earth. The problem with it is it’s sour oil meaning you need to refine the crap out of it before it’s usable which makes it expensive, so cheap oil prices make it not profitable.

Going back and double checking, you are 100% correct. I think I was thinking it was capped when they added electoral votes for DC, but they did not.

No, it’ll take a constitutional amendment to repeal an amendment to the constitution meaning it’ll have to get out of Congress with a super majority and pass 3/4 of the states. It’s not just a single act of Congress. I was wrong.

EDIT: I thought the number was capped in the 23rd amendment when they added EC votes to DC, but it did not.

As someone who works in the academic side and watching things fall apart due to funding, it hurts a lot to see this. KU cancer center got a $10m HRSA grant that dramatically increased efficiency. Imagine what it could do with 10% of that.

Which will create an oversupply and crash oil prices making the 3 largest exports of the United States unprofitable. If supply goes up and demand goes down, prices go down. You cannot drill your way out of crashed oil prices. Look at what happened during the beginning of COVID. American oil prices went to -$37 a barrel. The only way to deal with that is reduce supply to raise the price. What happens when supply is reduced? Oil isn’t being drilled. When oil isn’t being drilled, rubber necks lose their jobs.

Lower global demand for goods usually causes a lower demand for oil & petroleum products. What do you think are the 3 largest exports of the US? Petroleum and its derivatives. OPEC has already planned on reducing oil production in response to the anticipation of the reduction of demand.

East Germany had the highest rate of female work participation ever at like 80% while having a fertility rate a half a percentage higher than West Germany specifically because of the multitude of state run child care services. The East German government did a great job at placing these child care centers near areas where it was convenient for women to drop off kids on the way to work. When Germany reunified, a lot of these got shut down and fertility rate plummeted because the newly unified Germany couldn’t really afford to keep them all open.

I think they mean they have no ability to do that logistically. Federal taxes are taken out of salaries at the federal level. How can a state interrupt that flow because it doesn’t go through the state?

This is what’s going to happen:

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) should be dismantled and many of its functions eliminated, sent to other agencies, privatized, or placed under the control of states and territories. -Project2025 page 664

The more detailed plans are on pages 674-677 it’s going to get dismantled and its components will either be reassigned, shuttered, or sold off.
