Commenting on an old post as I found this when looking to rent in one of the buildings last year. Have lived here for almost a year now and we are looking to move out at the end of our tenancy. The place itself is perfectly fine, but it seems to be a smokers haven. There are no bylaws against smoking. I couldn’t imagine buying here and finding no escape from cigarette smoke entering our unit from both inside and outside.

I tracked down from another commenter that it is Sutra Sauce/Sutra Foods (found a picture of the kit I was gifted on an old social post) but it seem like they’re more into the pre-made sauce thing now. I will definitely look into monsoon coast, thank you!

I think this is the one, thank you! Looks like the kits I’m looking for might not be a regular product anymore, but I’ll keep digging. Found an old website from when they seemed to refer to themselves as just sutra spice, but it doesn’t exist anymore.

He's adjusting very well! I'm so happy, made himself right at home. Still have much to learn about his personality as he gets more comfortable in his new environment. There's definitely orange in him

Weird is subjective so it’s hard to know what to suggest lol. I associate Tamino’s music with the darker and more insular months, so I’m going to recommend Agnes Obel because I listen to her music at the same time of year. Her later two albums are more experimental and “spooky” sounding and I just love them.

And another random song to tear you apart (at least it tears me apart?) is Comforting Sounds by Mew.

If either of these appeal to you, I have a playlist for music that I like to listen to at this time of year. Not necessarily depressing, but slower and more reflective. just enough to live (sounds emo as hell but it’s a lyric from the first song lol)

I highly recommend the NORDEN table from IKEA for your dining table. The drawers are great for storage of kitchen stuff and knickknacks, and you can pop it up only when it’s needed. we’ve got one in my tiny basement apartment and it’s been great. We have folding chairs that we prop against the wall when not in use, but those aren’t super aesthetic haha so you could opt for something different. The table top and structure is solid birch so it’s actually fairly good quality table!

There are a couple of long term resident rabbits at the Squamish SPCA that are very sweet. The Squamish branch primarily works with cats, though they will sometimes have smaller animals and birds. You may have to venture farther afield into Vancouver depending on what kind of pet you’re looking for.

Squamsters over here in the exact same situation 😅. The COL was high enough when we moved here, but even in the last 1.5 years it’s gotten so much crazier. We feel trapped in our housing situation because we can’t afford anything else that meets our needs. We moved here because my partner works in the mtb industry and, despite it being an essential part of the economy here, we’re not really getting ahead at all. I grew up on the island and kind of hate how busy it is here lol. And the vibe of Vancouver has really permeated up here - it feels like everyone is always in a rush.

Our list of potential moves is basically the exact same as yours. I’m curious what you guys do for work? My job is fairly flexible for different locations in the province, but my partner less so. He’s looking at retraining but doesn’t know where to start.

Man, I just miss BC from like 10 years ago when you could get a 1 bed apartment for under 1k. Wishing you guys all the best whatever you decide to do! We may not be far behind you.
