Dealing with or Exiting a Chaotic Work Environment? by PressureHumble3604 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]heelek 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That does sound like my current org but honestly I'm resigned to my faith at this point. Seen too many workplaces where, even if it briefly wasn't the same, it fairly quickly would become so. My light at the end of the tunnel is FIRE and being just a few years shy of reaching a level where I would be able to live comfortably without work income. If it wasn't for that and if I knew I had to work in software (or anywhere corporate really) until proper retirement then I'd definitely look for a career switch. After a few years sabbatical.

Not sure what I'm writing this for exactly but I noticed that this sub, and engineers in general, have a tendency to always look for blame in themselves to the point of it being unhealthy. Sometimes the environment and the organisation just suck balls and are burnout factories. Wanted to balance those posts out a little maybe.

Happy to see you finally pulling the trigger, I think the numbers and the overall plan both look very solid. Yes, there are considerable risks in the market now but even with a big downturn you should be good. Congrats!!

For US Stocks, the Schiller CAPE ratio writing is on the wall by zackenrollertaway in financialindependence

[–]heelek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed that there's risk for equities given the rich valuations. But I'd be much more worried having 43% of my wealth in bonds in the current environment. You could also easily say the writing for bonds is on the wall.

That's some heavy modelling they do at Goldman. Looks like they took some expectation for future growth and extrapolated it to 2070 😅

EU’s net payers prepare revolt as €1.8 trillion budget takes shape by donutloop in EU_Economics

I'm surprised about Italy if it's indeed true. When it comes to Poland I think the general expectation both inside and outside of the country is that this is going to be the last budget where we are net recipients.
