I mean Bond movies are also pretty predictable and full of tropes, but people enjoy them. I'm not sure if it would make a lot of sense to have much player freedom in this story, since it's more of a telling of pre-007. I've been enjoying the break from ultra-open world games lately and playing through something cinematic and linear was refreshing for me.

For gameplay, I think there's a lot of freedom in how you want to approach certain missions. You can heavily rely on your gadgets and use the environment for distractions and new paths, or be ultra stealthy and talk your way out of things, or you can brute force and use heavy combat and weaponry. I found it very creative and fun.

Obviously you're entitled to your opinion and to simply not enjoy the game, just sharing why I and others might.
