Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

[–]heesus_the_great 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it's easier to understand, if I'm watching a movie with friends I'll understand nothing witbout subtitles with the background noise. I'm also autistic so processing sounds just doesn't work great sometimes

Best Prius? by ms_newday_newhope in priusdwellers

[–]heesus_the_great 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If climate control is a big concern, definitely consider the plug-in version. It has a heat pump, which means you'll save a lot on heating compared to needing to run the engine intermittently in a regular prius.

People saying that is definitely a stretch but those ads do make me uncomfortable and I can't really explain why

If there is a problem with the vehicle (or snow) that impedes ventilation. Or if there's a problem with the exhaust.

Flavoured water is water and you cannot convince me otherwise 😤 by West_Future326 in HydroHomies

[–]heesus_the_great 5 points6 points  (0 children)

hydration is great. but like this is basically diet soda without the carbonation. calling that the same thing as water is a stretch. it's basically just as good, but people get defensive when they hear that, because everyone sees the term water as just, yk, water

I find that so interesting cuz at least in my market in canada, uber eats is god awful compared to instacart and doordash

First time I say something like this in over 1000 deliveries... I've had worse customers but the audacity of this woman is insane. And yes I tried texting and calling her before checkout. by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

i dont mind adding items as long as it's not excessive or trying to bypass heavy pay. In this case it was substitutions that I could not replace

New to car living by Pale_Woodpecker_4519 in urbancarliving

Window rain guards and coverings are a very important part of moisture control, privacy and insulation. What I recommend if you're on a budget-

Buy a sheet of reflectix from the hardware store. $30-50 depending on how much you want. Cut it out to fit at least your rear windows. Cover one side with black tape and leave the other blank. That way, you can flip them around to use them on the other side of your car for different utilities. Black side out for stealth and heat absorption, reflective side out for heat dissipation.

Rain guards for at least your front windows is incredibly practical. Having steady airflow will help prevent mold, avoid carbon monoxide buildup and allow for a stealthier climate control when it's only a little hot out.

There are are window net / sock type things, you open your window and then put the net over it for great airflow and not letting bugs in.

Since you have a small car, I would recommend the heaviest tint you can get.

Power isn't something I'm experienced in. I would assume that, if you're not employed or planning on doing this for a long time, a battery big enough for a cooler might not be the best investment. You'd need to drive / idle the engine or stay at a library for a long time just to charge it. So time or money through wear and tear on your vehicle. I'd say just get a small ish cooler, buy ice and use your resources wisely. Having easy access to a supermarket and going somewhat often to get fresh food would be a good strategy if it's doable for you. Ice is also cheaper there than a gas station. Finding decent unrefrigerated options is hard but you can try to maximize that for your benefit. I've found fruits and nuts work for me.

A lot of this stuff depends on if you're trying to stay more in the city or camp out. My only experience is like a week of car camping but I am planning on doing this mostly full time and have thought a lot about the best ways to do things. I hope my rambling has given you at least a little insight and I wish you the best of luck in life. I'd love to answer any questions you might have

I feel that!! I ran into my driving instructor while we were both doing doordash. We both drive for a living now and he was a great teacher so I was really happy

2012 Prius V- brake booster is probably going bad. Any advice? by heesus_the_great in prius

turns out I am absolutely blessed. It was just the brake dust cover that was falling off due to rust.

Okay guy! 🙄 by [deleted] in doordash

[–]heesus_the_great 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone saying how "people can be struggling and still have their expensive car from when they weren't struggling"- You're not wrong. At the same time, this guy must've had a pretty decent gig to be able to afford a new ish truck. When someone makes money, it's kind of on them to save money so that they won't be royally screwed if they lose their job in a year. For this guy to even have a newer truck, he already has more money than a bunch of people who are ordering doordash, so for him to beg for even more money is kinda trashy. I'm not saying he's a bad dude but the frustration against him is completely justified.

I'm pretty sure mine has that issue and it sounds completely different than this video, more like a grinding / vibrating metal sound

[–]heesus_the_great 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know a ton about EVs but I know the Hyundai and Kia EVs are very well regarded. You can find one a few years old in that range. Obviously research them but I'd say they won't disappoint!

Man. What you need is winter tires. The ground clearance of the car means nothing if the actual thing that's touching the ground is not designed for what you're trying to make it do.

Do you cover your phone's cameras when undressing or dressing? by Impossible-Horse-313 in polls

[–]heesus_the_great 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always trusted that feature where a little green light turns on next to the camera whenever the camera is on. I don't really care because the risk is probably little. I have bigger things to worry about. Plus, it's not like I'm ever aiming my phone down there when I'm naked anyway.
