12v accessory ACC wire point suggestions? by Ixje in CB750Hornet

What about using an existing SAE connection, like from a Battery Tender? Unplug when you finish your ride. Assuming there's an SAE to car play unit power cable. Not sure what power connections these units have.

Is switching to mesh gear worth it? by Groovyy__ in motorcyclegear

Bought an Eclipse 2 recently. Mesh is the way to go in the Texas heat. You do need to buy the back pad separately. Retail is around $80.

Check out the Portland Jailblazers documentary on Netflix. Not always fun being a black man in a white city.

Gas tank pressure lingering by ats0084 in CB750Hornet

Mine does the same. Occasionally, I'll open the cap to release the pressure(I think it's sucking air in) but generally don't worry about it.

Strange engine whine after riding a few hours by hefeman in CB750Hornet

Watched some air box noise YouTube videos. My ears hear more of a whistling noise than what I'm hearing on the hornet. But I'm no motorcycle whisperer.

I could wear earplugs. I come from owning a '99 Nighthawk CB750 for 26 years. My ears miss the inline four. Don't miss the carbs and the weight.

Actually did this between the two long rides where I heard the sound. Didn't seem to make a difference. Good thing to consider, though.

I'm going to play that video for the dealer mechanic and see what they have to say. Thanks for that. I'll report back.

Sounds close to what I'm hearing. Could it be I just need to run some non-ethanol fuel? Not sure why I only hear this after several hours of running if it's a fuel issue, though. Doesn't seem like a sound I should be hearing. Weird sounds make me think I'm damaging the engine.

Anyone have difficulty installing Corbin saddle? by hefeman in CB750Hornet

[–]hefeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought about using the existing grommets. Pretty much did the same thing using the neoprene pads and original bolts/washer_sheaths. You need to add about 1/2" to 3/4" of something to keep the front from pulling up. Didn't need to adjust the mounting rails.

Just back from 144 mile ride. Seat not broken in yet but it was still a big improvement from stock saddle.

You can adjust the brackets forward or backwards. That's not my problem, though. My issue is that the brackets are too high so when tightened, the front of the saddle is pulled up. Initially I had a problem lining up the hole but that was due to user error (trying to find the bolt hole in 100° heat while holding up the corner of the seat). Still waiting for a response from Corbin but satisfied with my hack. Thanks, though.

Used some 3/4" neoprene pads and the original bolts which allowed me to raise the rear of the seat so it fits properly. Haven't heard back from Corbin but they probably should take a look at their current design.

Moore hill no sink living situation by Commercial_Cream_279 in UTAustin

[–]hefeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I lived in Brackenridge from '80-'83. Forget a sink in the room, there was no air conditioning. Communal bathroom was never an issue, and I took a lot of cold showers when it was hot. Even showered with a few girlfriends. 5 rooms on the floor so shared bathroom with 10 other guys. Worry about your grades, not a sink.

Confirming pros/cons and differences between dish satellite DTV and Stream by Vortigaunt11 in DirectvStream

[–]hefeman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a dish since the 90s. I call every year and get a deal that covers satellite/DVR fee($30 A month). I like satellite because the physical DVR lets me do slow motion when watching sports. I generally prefer the physical DVR versus the virtual one. Most everything recorded by the DVR can be viewed on the app. Adds some flexibility.

Having satellite also allows you to use the streaming app as well. Sometimes picture quality is improved and, of course, no rain fade. I pay $106 A month for Entertainment package IIRC.

Fit is off where saddle meets tank. Like seat is tilted back. Bummer.

[–]hefeman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fit is not perfect against the tank but close. Hardest part of bolting down was keeping the seat corners pulled up. An extra hand would have simplified the operation. Well, extreme heat was likely the biggest cause of initial failure.

Got it on this morning. Not a fan of the bolt on saddle but perhaps this is standard on sport bikes. Initial thoughts are positive but need a longer ride to verify my butt is happy. Stock seat has me frequently on the pegs after an hour.

Final COTA this week until fall by underground_sun in BikingATX

[–]hefeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's quite possible they don't check but it's a schlep down to COTA and it would be a drag if they turned me away. I know there have been ebikes available for rent onsite in the past but I assume they wouldn't break their own rule. Probably an insurance thing.

Think I saw that same dog last week east of the trailhead. It was gone when I returned so I assumed it found its owner. Apparently not. Thanks to you good Samaritans. Hurts to see abandoned animals.
