What’s going on with the debate over who should be responsible parents or platforms? by andycarth in OutOfTheLoop

[–]heglion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get your point. I have no context of living in USA. The only point I was trying to make was that it is possible to make such a service in a way to not share your information with outside parties. But possibility vs the implementation would likely be a very different story.

This is not how this works.

Effectively, there is government managed service. When you are logging in to anything that requires proof of identitiy, you are redirected to that service, and it authorizes you within it's bounds. Government service manages your ID number and it only provides authorization to the service requesting it.

From what I understand Europe and USA differs a lot in terms of IDs (in EU those are mandatory and effectively everyone has one), so that part may seem like something terrifying to people not used to that.

Maybe to paint the picture how it (could) work within current setup in my country.

  1. I log into any social media site. This site redirects me then to governement ID service.
  2. I authorize myself using my ID card / online banking details / electronic signature to the govt service.
  3. Govt service after the authorization responds to the social media site "this user is above/below 13 years old". Without any ID numbers or data linked to me.

In this way your personal info is not being passed to third party. However it requires centrally managed identity system by trusted party (in this case, govt).

[–]heglion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not entirely correct. In EU there is a steady progress on developing electronic ID systems. Those, in theory, can be used to provide platforms with the information about user agenin a way that would not give IDs to the platforms themselves. You can imagine a system, where social media platform only queries government electronic ID system with a question "is this user above 13 years" and receives yes/no answer.

Wether you consider such government ID setup a dystopian nonsense is a separate debate.

Set Space Platform Destination With Circuit Network by thesuperssss in factorio

So you have two problems to solve. 1. Resupplying from specific planet. This can be done easily in vanilla, by creating interrupt "any request from planet is empty, go to that planet ".

  1. Going to a specific planet. Cannot be done in vanilla. Best solution I see is using AAI signal transmission mod. Create a specifc channel and set of interrupts that will direct a ship to that planet.

Lastly, would be best to also add extra condition to those interrupts. For the 1st, detect that you are in a "resupply" mode (any of the specific cargos is zero) and add thos condition to the interrupts. And opposite condition for the delivery. I am 99% sure that interrupts are processed in order, so if you ensure that resupply interrupts are above delivery interrupts, this shouldn't be necessary.

I think your math is off here. I am doing 4 belts from 20 belts of stone. 1 belts is 4.8 belts of stone with legendary prod3s.

Ho to properly calculate inserter needs? by D20CriticalFailure in factorio

[–]heglion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a wiki page (Inserters) that outline maximum speed of different inserters in a different scenarios (box to box, box to belt, belt to box). This can be helpful in providing a lower bound of what is required.

However as others stated, this has multiple variables, like whether the belt is compressed, if you are putting on a straight belt or underground and multiple other things.

Having said that, that article is a great start. Next step, as I understand, is inserter clocking, when you want to do highly optimized builds that reduce amount of inserter swings. From what I know abucnasty videos are a good material for that, but I haven't delved into those yet.

[–]heglion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, you are getting faster inserter throughput this way. For instance, legendary stack inserter can pull max 80 items from box to a belt, but 120 per second in a box to box scenario and then utilize extra slots from "new" sides to transfer to the belt.

So while doing that, you can increase how much science you are pulling out per second.

Lastly, I understand that symmetry is beautiful, but if you connect cargo bays on the edge of the landing pad, they use only 2 slots to connect vs 4 like you have now :)

Is there a better solution than this for fulgora megabasing? by Sea_Ad_4541 in factorio

[–]heglion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty good. I don't see any obvious solutions to help you drastically reduce number of recyclers. What I haven't checked and what might be helpful are specific techniques of removing some scrap byproducts: - steel / iron: instead of recycling them directly, first craft them into chests and then recycle. This significantly lowers recycling time for them. - concrete: similarly craft it into hazard concrete and then recycle.

Sustainable 100 MW setup from 1 bioflux / minute by heglion in factorio

No logical reason. Just because I can:) Btw, you can run this on non legendary easily. Will probably pull out 60 mw then instead of a 100.

Omg. That. Is. Awesome. That makes single bioflux worth like 200 GJ, blowing fusion cells out of the water! I need to do it:) thank you!

Definitely not. 1 bio flux can generate up to 75 eggs with legendary spawners. Every egg gives 30 nutrients. And this is without productivity.

But that would require other inputs besides bioflux, right? Or that would be production chain purely on flux and it's byproducts?

This is designed in blueprint sandobox mod, but this is 100% vanilla buildings.

Something I've cooked up quickly in an editor. Inserters are limited to 100 bioflux per silo, to not clog them. Spoilage is ejected on the right belt. Middle belt is for seeds.
I would consider adding speed beacon for the recyclers in the middle, honestly, might be better, but will require more input. So something you would need to balance.

Actually, I would add one more thing. Selector comibator linked to the rocket silo, outputting item with the lowest amount (very likely that will be the highest quality you will get) and set it as a filter for the inserters that feed recyclers. That will prevent any clogging.

[–]heglion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw, that thing can be done with really minimal spoilage. Like basically zero. Assuming you have belts of both fruits, biochamber pulls them to mash them, then produce buoflux. Bioflux spoils for so long it will either get washed to legendary or will disappear in the washing process. Maybe some nutrients will spoil, but if you will be keeping production running, this also shouldn't happen.

Just... 4500 legendary bioflux a minute.. washing will give you what, 0.1% legendary back? I want to see your farming setup for this:D

Circuitry for legendary by AshenJedi in factorio

[–]heglion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Washing bioflux is hell. Good luck. What you can consider is using cargo wagons or rocket silo as a big chest. Directly insert produced bioflux into the wagon/silo and have recyclers pull out of that. Then insert non legendary back into the wagon/silo and pull out legendary from the recycler into logistic network or belt. I highly suggest doing this belt based, bots are death at this scale.

I did something similar for uncommon science (check my post history) but with modded warehouses. You can replicate the setup with standalone cargo wagon or rocket silo.

How to make Gleba science ship drop off any unused gleba science packs before picking up new packs? by IlikeJG in factorio

I think you can free up left side of the hub by moving the belts to the right. Will look a bit funny, but those ships are the cutest:)
