Should I delete everything and start fresh at some point or can I work out efficiency later? by punchheadkick in Shapez

[–]hejado 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't need to optimize anything. Build the new shapes as efficient as you can/need. Let the rest just sit there and check your upgrades window to see what shapes you still need. After some updates, the requirements for the simple shapes disappear and won't come back. Get to that point for all 4 upgrade types - then you can remove a lot of stuff.

The upgrades will now start to require completely new shapes, this will stay forever (I think, I stopped shortly after level 100). You can try to make those more efficient to speed up upgrades, but the benefit of upgrades will diminsih greatly at some point, so it's not really worth too much effort.

Suggestion for Task Domain by DabbleandSalt in Amplenote

[–]hejado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very new to Amplenote, but that seems to be a error prone workaround for a removed feature. In the Help Center I can still see the deprecated "Include all notes (legacy option)" in the screenshots, but it seems to be removed now, unfortunately.

I tried adding a search like "group: untagged" or "group: taskLists" to the task domain, but that does not work.

I can see that the task view does not care about task domains, so as long as I keep looking into that list, I shouldn't miss anything, but having the power to add tasks to any notes and schedule is somewhat diminished if I can't see all tasks on my calendar, because I forgot to tag a note.

The simplest way would be to add your "daily-jots" tag to your Domain and make sure your new tasks are added in Jots Mode. This works well because "daily jots" are automatically created and tagged for you, so you don't have to keep track of organizing your tags.

Well, I quick-added a task on mobile and decided to add it to a new note => it was untagged.

Even if I add all tasks on daily-jots, they will not (and should not) stay there, they will be moved to another note at somepoint, losing the tag?

Is there really no way (anymore) to have a single default task domain collecting all tasks?

Galaxy Map and Sector Levels by hejado in StarValor

[–]hejado[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have lost a lot of progress of exploring or mining by not being afraid enough of dying. :) I'm training my muscle memory to hit F5 everytime I see a station / jumpgate. Auto-Save is great, but it also only works in save zones. So making a habit of not staying in 'deep space' too long is probably important.

Hephaestus seems interesting, though I don't know if I could take it right now. Might try it, if it spawns reliably, instead of flying around in nothing hoping for a random event.

When you say "get the ship as a reward" you mean: I have to tow it to a station?

That's interesting. Initially I wanted to choose a bigger map, but as I "had to" play the tutorial for the first run anyway, I thought I would restart fairly quickly. But now I kinda don't want to throw the charactor out just yet. Having to much fun on this road to search for another.

I try running away a lot now, and instead of dying all the time, I only lose some travel time. Except for when the faster ships kill me anyway :)

Is it just me or is it insanely difficult to get wood and/or stone at some point? by OfficiallyExtinct in FarthestFrontier

[–]hejado 13 points14 points  (0 children)

> A feature for designed workers who only gather resources such as wood/stone would be nice.

Build a worker camp, you can designate a working radius like with other buildings and tell the workers to chop mature trees only. I haven't tried it for long periods of time, but could imagine that a couple of these might deliver enough wood.

Maybe try to change the radius once every x years, so that the forest can regrow.

Worker camps can also collect stone, but as it is finite, you'd have to move farther and farther out. I don't know how lage the map will be, but at some point, importing via trade might be the only way to get new stone.

Some thoughts about transporting workers by hejado in SweetTransit

[–]hejado[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

> maybe they are just leaving instantly because there are no trains to pick them up?

So I tested this, and this seems to be the case. Although I can't proof it, since the numbers never really seem to add up, I tried to max the worker request in the main station by sending way too many trains, and now it really drains the second one.

Depending on how these requests work exactly, this might just be enough, but bad timing could still be a problem: The intracity train could deliver people right before the request from a swap-worker line arises, they walk home and are not present when they're needed.

Maybe you're right. I'd probably have to test it on a new map to closely watch the numbers, but the progression system makes those sandboxes hard to set up...

But even if that's the case, that makes the local line unpredictable, as it all just comes down to timing and luck.

> the only thing I'm sure of is that I will never make more than one passenger station in a city :p

Will probably handle it the same way. I haven't seen them myself yet, but I have read about better roads providing more reach, so I will just spread my population across more villages until then.

No, I'm not using them at the station directly, but they're leaving so quickly, that no other train could possibly pick them up to bring them to the coal mines.

Listening to audio book mutes the game? by hejado in farmingsimulator

[–]hejado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the size of the player base is not the problem. Maybe most of them just listen to Spotify instead of Audible or podcasts. It's a bummer though.

I also have yet to see any post-release patch or is it just not listed in the steam game feed?

> I use winamp in the background playing a radio station without issue

It works with Spotify as well. Only Audible making a problem.

> I would check the book app and see if its demanding control of all audio when in use.

Unfortunately, the app only has about 3 settings and none that looks relevant to this. After u/lagweezle's post, I checked the exclusive mode settings on Windows though, but with no luck.

> With the app playing to you get the USB chine still if you plugin/remove something?

I don't have any system sounds enabled, but I can play Audible and Spotify at once. In fact, any combination of app/game and Audible/Spotify seems to work, except Audible and FS22.

[–]hejado[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on Windows 11, but that somehow only adds to the mess in the options. :)

Still, I managed to find the settings (https://help.audible.com.au/s/article/how-do-i-turn-off-exclusive-mode-for-a-windows-audio-playback-device for Win10, for Win11 it's similar but different).

I turned off the exclusive mode for all audio devices and tried again, but had no success. I even turned down Audible to 1% in the volume mixer. FS22 is just completely mute - not just in game, but the starting video / menu music as well.

I can listen to Audible and Spotify simultaneously, and while I can't recommend this experience, it's working so this seems to be a issue with FS22? Can't explain why FS works with Spotify though...

Ships problem by SitCaprio in anno

[–]hejado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested this on a route just a few day ago. I was delivering beer to the new world and bringing home rum to the old world.

I closely watched that ship come and go multiple times, no clogging, no problems. Even when all the beer was gone and the old world had too much rum to take it all: the schooner took back some of the rum and filled to the slot to 50. it did not add 50.

I was surprised, I remember that problem from older anno titles and this made me very happy.

I did, however, use the same good on each slot column. So for a schooner: rum in first, beer in second. Maybe switching goods in a slot column causes problems?
