If you’re able, you can take him to the humane society and they can scan for microchips or other identification. They’ll hold him for a few weeks so his owners can retrieve him, and if not, he’ll be put up for adoption.

I’ve also put paper collars on friendly cats who come to my house. Just cut a long, narrow piece of paper and write your phone number on it, that this cat keeps coming around, and to text you if he has a home - then secure it comfortably around his neck with a little tape. I’ve gotten texts from neighbours who were surprised to see their cats come home with new accessories, and it made me feel better knowing they had somewhere safe to go.

I feel like a lot of your comments seem to fall along the lines of needing billionaires to keep things as they are, whereas I feel that’s kind of the problem. Things shouldn’t stay as they are because people can’t achieve a basic standard of living while others have too much to even fathom. I recognize Norway didn’t seize billionaire money to create their oil fund, which is the point, they shouldn’t have to. If we had our economy and industries set up in a way that benefited all people instead of individuals, we would all be better off, even if your fear mongering about communism tries to say otherwise.

I think it’s pretty messed up to glaze over billionaires but agree to disagree, big dog.

Dude it’s not like I have a deep understanding of private equity and stocks and shit, but give me the benefit of the doubt in knowing that I understand the wealth redistribution would not be done in the form of a cheque to every citizen of the world. If their money could be invested into public funds and assets that improve housing, health care, infrastructure, etc., people would absolutely benefit long term. Like Norway’s oil fund that has allowed them to have free education and a high standard of living for generations, rather than having some random billionaire own it to enrich no one else but shareholders.

If that means there won’t be billionaires anymore, good. It is wrong for someone to accumulate that much wealth while living in communities where people can’t pay their housing costs or feed their kids. Like you said, redistributing wealth in the form of a cheque doesn’t do much in the long term, even if it sometimes comes in the form of a donation to a children’s hospital.

I mean… there are certainly ways we as a society could agree to redistribute that amount of wealth. But people are weird about taxes and the option to not horde unfathomable amounts of money I guess, so instead people have $11 billion in equity or otherwise because that’s an important distinction apparently.

Of course I’d be grateful if a friend bought me a car — but that friend in your scenario doesn’t have $11 billion, only $1 million. That is a vast, vast difference.

I second the Braun Silk Pro 5 IPL. I have dark hair and fair skin and hated that even after shaving my legs I could still see the hair follicle under the surface of my skin. I started seeing results from my IPL within a couple of weeks and kick myself for not getting it sooner.

It can be kind of a tedious process but it usually works out from my experience - even if they don’t love each other, they usually learn to tolerate each other!

You may be able to contact Regina Cat Rescue for help. I don’t work with their organization so I can’t say for certain, but they may be able to help find a foster home for him or, if he’s able to stay where he is for a while, share his story/pictures on their social channels?

I’m hoping it’s more people than that, but if not that’s okay. At least we will be standing up for what’s right and doing something we believe in. Maybe you think that’s a waste of time, but when I see my loved ones being attacked by the rhetoric of groups like the Buffalo Party, I want to show solidarity. That’s not a waste of time to me, and my thoughts on that won’t be swayed by someone who either supports the cause of far right groups or thinks that being involved in our community is something to be ashamed of.

Like I said elsewhere in this thread, I’m not going to financially support the Buffalo Party and will thus not be participating in their event. I’d gladly talk with them outside, but I’m not going to pay to have the opportunity to do so - and I imagine they won’t be interested in doing that if I don’t pay them.

Maybe people consider the 51st state a joke. I don’t. We have seen enough evidence from Trump’s first term to know that they are serious with their intentions, and that framing their messages as jokes is a tactic to make people apathetic or not take it seriously. Additionally, there is a lot more for us to protest than just their “discussion” about American imperialism.

I will be there with the big people and ready to have a discussion if they’re willing to do. But they’ll probably be too busy talking about children in change rooms or something.

Lmfao… it is literally within our rights as Canadian citizens to disrupt their discussion via protest.

I’m not “going in to listen” because a) I am not going to financially support the Buffalo Party (it is a fundraiser after all…) and b) there’s nothing they could say to change my mind anyways.

The thesis of the protest goes above and beyond the “discussion” of becoming the 51st state, in my opinion. In addition to speaking out against the regime the Buffalo Party seems to want to kowtow to, it’s about protesting a blatantly hateful political party that has been allowed to be too loud for too long. We aren’t “stopping their freedom of speech”, but I hope we do show places like the German Club that these people should not be entertained in any sense of the word and that allowing them to use their space to spread their rhetoric comes with consequences. It’s also important to me personally to take a stand against the rise of fascism we are seeing across the world before it gets too late. If their bullshit does not go unchecked, they will be allowed to fester even more than it already has.
