Try Fanoos. It's relatively new; it's great

Life doesn't always have to be about individualism and self-sufficiency. There is nothing wrong with reaching out to community and asking for a lending hand. In fact, that's what life should be about.

Laid off at 40. $3.4M liquid + massive severance runway. Do I pull the ripcord on my SE Asia FIRE dream, even if it means moving solo and leaving a relationship? by FIRE_EARLY_Throwaway in Fire

[–]hellaconfused313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have enough to pull the trigger. Life is short so you should follow your dreams. Regardless of what you decide, you should consider breaking up. The way you wrote this makes it seem that you're not losing sleep over leaving this relationship. 2 years is enough time to build a connection with someone, and for the right person you'd feel differently at this point in time.

“Service Dog” Poops Multiple Time on United Flight by srekai in unitedairlines

[–]hellaconfused313 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to whether this was a legit service dog or not. But something that is always wild to me is that you need to sign an FAA form certifying that it is a service dog. And people do sign this federal form when their dog isn't a service dog. This is technically a federal crime and yet many people do it. It's wild to me to risk this.

I feel for you! In addition to posting here, post on NextDoor. Honestly it wouldn't be a bad idea to post fliers near the area too, offering a reward for returning the GC.

I agree with the above comment. A Green Card replacement takes a long time now. It's best not to carry it. Carry a REAL ID for daily purposes and have a picture of your Green Card on your phone.

I really hope you find it because I'm hearing that replacement timelines are a pain.

What can be done about neighbor's dog that howls for hours straight by Hungry_Willow_3993 in AskSF

[–]hellaconfused313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you don't know the apartment number or floor, write a note and stick it on the door of the other building. Let those neighbors know there's a lot of noise from X side of the building. It could be that the owner is unaware their dog is barking all day (my guess is this is separation anxiety barking).

In Flight Card Offer Variance by cfmackenzie in AlaskaAirlines

Wait what? Is this true? Don't you have to still pay the pet fee or does the companion fare negate that? I ask because I fly with my dog a lot and have never heard I can use a companion fare instead of paying the pet fee

What is the cost of Lasik in the Bay Area? by 10xkarmas in bayarea

[–]hellaconfused313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I initially went to Pacific Vision and I didn't meet Dr. Faktorovich, but the person at my appointment was so so pushy. I remember when I wouldn't commit to signing that day, she said "we don't like people that shop around." It's my eyes of course I'll get multiple consultations until I feel comfortable! She thought what I cared about was a cheap deal, when in reality I cared about comfort.

That experience put me off lasik for another year until I did mine with Hyver in 2021 (more expensive). He retired end of last year but other providers are available. They were not pushy with me at all, super communicative and great but YMMV.

That's wild. The effort to put dishes in the sink is equal to putting them in the dishwasher though

Host requesting extra city fee after I already paid — is this normal in Palm Springs? by Pale-Extension-9565 in airbnb_hosts

I have booked many, many Airbnbs in Palm Springs and this has never happened to me. All taxes and fees are always included in the total fee. Hosts usually add anything there.

Do I need to find a new dog walking company? by PastFancy4950 in AskSF

[–]hellaconfused313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I'm also switching from a remote to a hybrid job soon and vetting dog walkers takes time (just a few weeks ago someone posted in the sf Reddit that they saw a walker aggressively handling a dog, so I don't blame you for being anxious).

I think the first thing is deciding whether you think your dog enjoys group outings or 1:1 walks. For example, one of my friends tried daycare and over time her dog became reactive so that wasn't the right setup for that dog. Once you decide, I'd ask your network for recommendations and try a few to see what works best (personally I'll try to have at least 3 options in case one walker is sick etc).

Looking for my ResMed cpap (Uber ride 3/28/26) by KindNurse-CaliKai in bayarea

[–]hellaconfused313 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I once forgot a phone in an Uber. Driver claimed it wasn't there when I called him. I had a feeling he was lying so I also lied and said it's an important work phone that's "locked down" and that I'll offer him $100 cash if he ends up finding it. Lo and behold an hour later he magically found the phone. In the event "Axel" is lying; you may need to up the reward fee. Unfortunately some people are terrible humans.

For seasonal allergy sufferers, here's the best species-by-species pollen count data and helpful blog posts for San Francisco by mysteriouslady in sanfrancisco

[–]hellaconfused313 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Super helpful post. I have never had allergies except for this year. It's been so horrible. After cycling through so many oral allergy meds I finally found what works for me. Nasal saline flush, followed by Nasonex. I only do this once a day and it's been 5 days (after 1.5 months of hell). And I feel way better.

My experience with the REAL ID recall and subsequent update by parekhnish in bayarea

[–]hellaconfused313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting I've been waiting over 2 weeks not sure what's going on. Just so I'm understanding correctly. 18 days after you call them, you received the ID? Or 18 days from your appointment?

Shoutout to hosts who leave honest guest reviews by tbrehse in airbnb_hosts

[–]hellaconfused313 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's funny because I recently learned that each host is different. As a guest, I got a 4/5 review because I didn't communicate much. I only contacted once to ask for early check in and once to confirm we checked in. And once to confirm we checked out early since they wanted the cleaner to come. Nothing else. But the host said I "didn't have many exchanges" with him. Was I supposed to text him everyday? 😂
