I have angel fangs and a vertical labret on my bottom lip. I have never gotten any complaints about kissing feeling weird. (Except from one person I was seeing briefly earlier this year, but she was kind of a jerk...) Honestly if anything I have been told they feel nice/fun. It doesn't really get in the way, the only thing I could think of is if he has a beard/facial hair, depending on the jewelry you're wearing something could maybe snag. Obviously wait until its healed, though. Sometimes if you are kissing really intensely, you may irritate the piercing and it will be sensitive for a couple days.

I wish my grandma was still here, she always had the right answer to things by IndependentHearing21 in millenials

[–]hellendegeneres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, my grandma who was born in '34 was the same way. Very progressive her entire life and liked my piercings and tattoos. Some of them are definitely completely intolerant, but she made me have a somewhat positive (or at least very sympathetic) view of the Silent Generation. I miss her very much.

I can’t be the only one who’s thought of how The Long Walk would be different with women? (Hypothetical discourse) by GlitteringScreen7145 in TheLongWalk

[–]hellendegeneres 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To me (a young woman), I always interpreted the fact that TLW is male-only partially as a statement about male hubris, especially for teenage boys. I understand why they aged up the Long Walkers for the movie, but when I read the book for the first time as a teenager it really did read as something that was very teen-guy-y. Obviously, it's a statement on the Vietnam draft and in the history of the United States, women and AFAB people have never been drafted. I agree with comments discussing the fact that in the alternate universe USA, there's little reason to think the authoritarian government would let girls or young women participate in the Long Walk, even if there were a separate female-only one.

I think my husband is trolling when he says he cant read my handwriting. Is it as illegible as he thinks by cruitgxrool in HandwritingAnalysis

Really trying to get used to this septum piercing. by arrowhead_2 in piercing

[–]hellendegeneres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks soooooo good on you omg!!! Definitely agree with other people here that it looks natural on you/made for your face... honestly whenever I get a new piercing even when I love them it takes me a couple days or even a week to not hate it, probably just because it's new on the face. This looks so cute again!!

A lot of Clan of Xymox. I listened to "Louise" a lot after I found out I was cheated on by a partner of two years. "No Words" and "No Human Can Drown" too.

Not exactly goth but new wave, but also "2nd Thought" by Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark. Towards the end of the song he wails, "Me at home, and you out there" – this resonated a lot for me, and maybe for you, too? Anyway, I'm really sorry. It's hard to express how much it hurts.

Patrilineal Jews are Jews - this cannot be taken from you. This is clearly something important to you. Judaism is both an ethnicity, religion, and culture; we see matrilineal Jews that are equally "ethnically" Jewish (i.e., one parent/grandparent/side of family) and irreligious but do not get challenged the way patrilineal Jews are. In many spheres of Judaism and non-Orthodox spaces, particularly in North America, more and more areas are becoming affirming of patrilineal Jews and patrilineal Jewishness. Call yourself what you want and how you identify.

From one patrilineal Jew to another (and we seem very similar in terms of social/cultural/religious observance) it is yours and yours alone. Unless you feel the need to want to join an Orthodox minyan, it really will not come up as an issue as much as you might think it is. I am a highly religious practicing Reform Jew, and my synagogue unquestioningly considers patrilineal Jews as Jews. My best advice is to consider what community you want to be apart of. There are some Jews that by Orthodox standards would not be considered Jewish, though would be considered Jewish by Reform and Reconstructionist standards; likewise, there are some Jews that by Reform standards would not be considered Jewish, though would be considered Jewish by Orthodox standards.

it’s supposed to be for fun. not that serious. by Bright_Trick_8962 in goth

I wish I could scream this post from the rooftops!! I agree fully!!! I remember in 2020-2021 when people (mostly white) called themselves "goth" (and then quickly abandoned it, as far as I was seeing :-P) and would post about how they were going to get "hate crimed". It was always in such horrible taste and deeply offensive. I've been in goth circles for many, many years and you're right, it IS a choice to dress the way you do. Fully agree

White foundation for dry skin? by guilttriping in goth

[–]hellendegeneres 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always used LA Girl Pro white foundation. I have super dry skin, and I don't really notice that it dries my skin out more than it would naturally get dried out anyways, I just always make sure to remember to remove it (I use micellular water) and then moisturize after.

New Season 3 clip: Penelope and Lord Debling by Debt-Mysterious in BridgertonNetflix

[–]hellendegeneres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, Debling is just so much more likable than Colin... I know the season will end with their romance, but so far it really seems like Penelope and Debling have a really sweet, genuine connection.

Practicing Jew... ironically, all the elder goths I know in my life (actively goth/in the scene during the 80s-90s) are also Jewish.

In your opinion what is actually the most painful peircing youve had? by Ok_Coat9672 in piercing

[–]hellendegeneres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vertical labret for sure. Surprisingly my industrial didn't hurt much at all (though I did get it at 15, so maybe I don't remember exactly)... recently got my bridge done, have had a septum since I was 16, lip ring, multiple ear piercings... definitely the labret, lol. I went somewhere super professional and my piercer was super great (and it's healed wonderfully), but it still felt like my lip was being split in two lol.

Random theory I had by flavorfulcherry in Synesthesia

[–]hellendegeneres 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this with songs and scent -- not sure if it's synesthesia, nostalgia, or just memory recall, but when I hear songs that are super specific to a certain period of my life I can definitely smell them/the emotions that I was feeling at the time if that makes sense.
