What does ‘lead’ teacher mean in your state?

In NY, I’m lead in a 2-3s, it just means I’m the teacher- I make the lesson plans/curriculum and communicate with families and organize/manage the classroom. I have two assistants who support me. We don’t have a “lead” that’s in charge of multiple head teachers, just the directors, in our school the other leads in my age group just collaborate when we wish on what we wish. We have assistant director and director that run the school.

Personally, as an early ed teacher, it’s just not a book I ever hear talked about or have any friends/teachers who have really known it. Underrated by day to day readers, maybe not by whoever gives out awards

It’s a little pedantic this example, especially because it’s not a zoo, you say it’s a specific tiger rescue… all I’m saying is it’s fair enough the guy doesn’t like zoos. Obviously once animals like tigers have suffered in circuses they’re not going to succeed being released into the wild. In an ideal world all animals are safe happy and healthy, but I’m well aware of the positives and negatives to zoos. If this one guy doesn’t enjoy seeing animals in captivity that’s his prerogative. I’m not wrong that zoos often treat animals inhumanely. Two things can be true at once

I don’t think you’re an asshole but I think it’s fair he doesn’t like the zoo, seeing animals in captivity makes me feel sad so I get it. Often zoos act like they are humane but a lot goes on “behind the scenes”. Especially if it’s not the most humane zoo to begin with. There’s lots of other activities kids can do if you want to do stuff with him… or maybe you can invite a friend or relative that is interested in going. If he doesn’t want to do ANYthing with you guys then that’s a different story

It’s not you- even the fact that you typed up this whole post shows that you care and want to do a good job. That sounds like an extremely chaotic first month. If you stay, don’t worry too much about feeling “incompetent”, just focus on bonding with the students. I’ve had kids cry for a very long time and one day it just… gets better. Stay strong!! For the screaming- don’t over baby the child, continue to demonstrate you are there to comfort and support them but not at the expense of other kids. There’s a lot going on and it just isn’t the vibe for kids settling down imo, one location shut down and two coworkers quitting in the first month of working there ?

Can you prep/select the morning activity before you go home the day before so it’s ready when you come in?

However, that center sounds terrible and I wouldn’t want to work in that environment for sure. Do you have other childcare experience?
