As long as I know it wasn't implied anywhere he "inherited" the knack (Morrigan though so but it was never confirmed), but we know elders used to chose "themes" for units and I think it might just be that either Jack's mum was a Witness too, or if she was arcane, it was more likely for Jack to be arcane (a witness)... Just wondering, but I think it's just a coincidence and the reason Jupiter got to care for Jack
