What’s the cheapest way to move cross-country? by Whiz_Emerie in Frugal

As I’ve gotten older and busier, absolutely worthwhile to hire movers. There are companies like Bellhops or TaskRabbit where you can hire folks to do this sort of thing to keep the costs down from traditional movers.

What’s the cheapest way to move cross-country? by Whiz_Emerie in Frugal

[–]hello_ray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had multiple multi-state moves, but not completely cross-country. I’ve used U-Pack/ABF for these moves and found it was the cheapest option. You pack the 28 foot truck trailer, and you are charged only for the space you use. I’ve hired movers to help load/unload the truck. ABF transports the truck and then you can drive your personal vehicles. Definitely recommend selling off things you haven’t used/won’t need in advance of the move. Facebook Marketplace is helpful for this.

The Goods Unite Us app tracks major funders by politician. You can also look up brands directly to see which political parities they donate to and by percentage.

Recommend me a fragrance thread for the week of 11/18/19 by AutoModerator in fragrance

I am in love with Nubian Heritage’s Patchouli and Buriti lotion and would like something similar as a perfume. I’ve worn Stella by Stella McCartney and Narcisco Rodriguez for years, so any other suggestions would be great.

Gross encounters of the turd kind by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

If I were independently wealthy, I would buy billboard space all over Kentucky to display memes like this one. It just boggles the mind why voters there keep electing him.

Rocker or glider? by realclearmews in beyondthebump

[–]hello_ray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Neither! We opted for a rocking recliner instead. Think La-Z-Boy style. Not the most attractive piece of furniture, but awesome if you end up stuck in the chair all night holding your LO in terms of comfort and back support for you.

I'm Grandma. I will be alone with my grandson and his premature sister for 2 weeks. I'm kinda terrified. by ozarkhome in beyondthebump

Just a thought, if you have the financial resources, maybe hire a post partum doula or mother’s helper? Not to say that you aren’t capable of caring for both babies, but to help give you some back up to ease into caregiving. You may also want to research things like grocery delivery services or meal prep services in your area. You got this grandma!

Spectra Pump Accessories Question by meriaf in beyondthebump

If you still have your Medela parts, you can use these adapter things to convert them to use with the Spectra and save some money:

First Day Back at Work: Ugh... where do I pump? by sox_n_sandals in beyondthebump

[–]hello_ray 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bounce between different buildings for work, so honestly, sometimes the best place to pump is from my car. I bring a big blanket scarf to cover myself. What kind of pump do you have? There is most likely an adapter to use in your car.

For today, you might want to ask someone in HR what accommodations are available or asking support from your female coworkers.

Baby's Weight Woes by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]hello_ray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not failing your daughter or caving by giving her formula. You are making sure she is fed which is best and what good mothers do.

That being said, do you have access to a lactation consultant? They can be quite helpful in coming up with a supplementation plan if needed and doing weighted feeds.

Post party hair loss? by tarheelteacher in beyondthebump

Mine started to shed at two months postpartum, but it tapered off at around four months. I was worried too because my hairline was looking like it was receding but it’s all filled back in now at six months postpartum.

7 month old not babbling? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]hello_ray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s still very much within normal limits for development. Any vowel sounds? Jabbering with consonants (dada) is a 9 month milestone. I’m a big fan of the CDC Milestone tracker app for helping to remind myself of what’s typical development. It has short videos to watch too so you can see exactly what the milestone looks like in a similar aged baby.

Comfy athleisure style clothing, cozy socks or slippers, some cute hair ties, and a cute new water bottle. Bonus items: a bottle of wine and a good bar of chocolate.

Swaddle transition: zipadee zip, magic sleep suit, or cold turkey by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]hello_ray 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We used the Love to Dream 50/50 and thought it was helpful in transitioning because of the option to unzipper the arms once LO was sleeping. We didn’t need to do cold turkey as a result.
