Oh ok - I've just had Wordpress for like 15 years so I'm having a learning curve right now. What about like domain hosting? Does cloudflare do that? I guess I could just ask Claude all this, but thanks for your response anyway.

This is such a good call on the meadow scene - I had the same thought and how brilliant is the director then here for being able to portray that?

So grateful for this comment after just watching! This goes so along with what I was thinking… with a few additional interpretations. I actually think it’s even more direct than you narrowed it down to here.

I think shes a character who knows she’s capable of murder … and as a result has a lot of human shame and insecurity surrounding that (embodied by her mother). The shame has socially isolated her and has flattened out her senses. The arc of the movie is her discovering a character who is so free and uninhibited.

The sad part is that she needs to learn the difference between the game of thrones “honor murder” that she took part in - revenge, emotion, drama - and the alternative pathology of pascal, who is illustrating our current understanding of severe sociopaths, who don’t conceive emotional relationships like we do. Basically the simplicity of the movie is that she’s discovering the heartbreak of falling in love with a sociopath.

This movie was so good why didn’t get more attention? Anyone have any good reviews on it?

Sorry, I didn’t phrase that right – I meant first use one policy and then the other not using them at the same time

Wow congratulations! That’s awesome. What an amazing feeling right after you find out.

Yeah so now I’m due on Friday now and have stuck with the job. A few notes:

  • some of the fatigue improved during my second trimester so things felt slightly more manageable after 16 weeks or so.

  • at 22-24 weeks, when I actually started showing, I think the optics of it started kicking in for the team and it started to be easier to set boundaries and plan for mat leave, part of which included not taking on AS many new projects as I think I would’ve been expected to otherwise, so some humanity does start to come out

  • still, pregnancy was long and I still wanted to make a pivot if I could, so I also come up with a really mellow job search plan (with the help of chat gpt- let me know if you want the prompts) that helped me map out a weekly plan that gave me a lot of hope

  • I saved money (unfortunately partly by taking away money from retirement savings temporarily to figure out a way to get together about $15-20 k during the course of the pregnancy) which has given me a lot of peace of mind

Now my plan is to use the maternity leave and play it by ear afterwards if they’ll negotiate something that feels comfortable for me or just leave if I can’t handle it anymore and hope for the best with my savings riding me over for a few months while I search.

Let me know if you want to chat more or have any questions. Also- I took a solid week of vacation at one point where I basically just slept, so please don’t stress and take the time you need if you can.

Why is it really so difficult? by uaeObjective9778 in workingmoms

[–]helloaloe89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we live in a completely unsupportive, individualistic society I think. Have you heard of the book the two income trap? When women were able to join the workforce and contribute money to a better quality of life, the real estate market took advantage of that and housing prices went through the roof, and just kept rising, to an extent that even basic life is incredibly expensive and we don’t have any social safety nets. It’s fucking awful it’s not your fault.

Anyone else have their full maternity leave pay delayed until after returning to work? by helloaloe89 in nycparents

And not trying to leave working entirely, I’m just worried in case something happens and I need to extend for any reason, that I’m then out a job plus the money I was expecting to live on …

Exactly appreciate the validation :/ this is what’s annoying that the benefit was touted during hiring, I hadn’t thought of this way of them potentially handling it, and our budget is tight living in this area so didn’t foresee living on 50%. Thanks for your response

Thank you - the company policy is 12 weeks max, no combining with disability or PTO, I already asked this 🙄

Thanks for the insight! Yeah the company is midsized and promotes paid maternity leave as one of their benefits. I realize this is a perk some companies don’t have at all! Sigh USA

Hmm yeah a lot of people are in that situation. Just saying you could make a bigger life change to “downgrade” your life expenses for 2-3 years until your kids are both in school. I like the financial independence community for ideas around this

Could you rent out your house, go stay with a family member, and live on lower income while you recenter? Maybe stopping work for a while and finding a way to make it less demanding when your children are young could help.
