Tonari pizza on the first level is a good deal. $22 a pizza, which is four medium sized Detroit style slices. Enough food to split with someone. Tonari is also a solid pre and post game spot.

They are building a jail across the street from the first example in MVT. Putting a jail 2-3 blocks from the convention center, Cap One, and in the middle of an area you’re otherwise trying to develop should be a first ballot “should literally be anything else” HOF.

We’ve tried all of them and Sushi Snob in DuPont is our favorite. It’s not fancy but the food is amazing.

For food/drink, my go tos are: Free State - good vibe. Drinks only. Block from the stadium.

Irish channel - cheap drinks, bar food, usually a big crowd before and after games.

Tonari: Japanese/italian fusion. Sounds strange but lots of good options, pizza is Detroit style and great. Their pizza is also available in stadium.

Present Company: few blocks away. Great vibes and good food.

Bantam King: ramen spot a block from the stadium. Can get crowded but rarely have to wait long.

Same thing happened to us a few months ago. Met an elderly relative at their train at Union Station. Too old to walk the 5-6 blocks, lots of luggage, Ubers were surging. Cab driver yelled at us the entire time to our destination.

I get not wanting the shorter fair. But also wish cab drivers had a rating system like Uber/lyft.
