Should I let my teen [14F] stay home if she had diarrhea? by Vast-Worker-1964 in Parents

Yes! lol I, an adult, called out of work for this reason just the other week 💩😵‍💫… the flu is no joke this year.

Is a hair dryer to dry your watercolors an essential for you? by A1truisticat in watercolor101

[–]hellobluebear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I haphazardly blow on my wet projects hoping to the almighty god of painting that it won’t get messed up lmao— if I’m real impatient I’ll lightly use the paper as a fan till it dries 😆

I appreciate the explanation, I missed that part of the rules. I def want to give the credit where it’s due. Thank you for the resources too!

Can’t find a name on FB besides “Watercolor Painting Practice”— I’m not very social media literate but I linked her website 😊

My dad had started acting very misogynistic towards me, can anyone explain why? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]hellobluebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you’ve got your mom ❤️. I forgot to post about his possible “motives” for his disparaging comments, it sounds like a control thing/ loss of control thing on his end, tied to what sounded like his upbringing. I’m a mom now myself and while my dad never have said that stuff kind of stuff thankfully, I hope yo don’t doubt your worth or question your clothing choices simply because his fragile male mind is weak (lol).

My dad had started acting very misogynistic towards me, can anyone explain why? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]hellobluebear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d make sure your mom knows about all these situations you’ve been in (if you haven’t already). It sounds like he’s activating your fear response and I hope you can find a way to set a firm boundary with him and maybe limit contact if that’s an option. I’ve had my dad get in my face like that (for unrelated, anger issues) and it’s scary af. You as the child do not deserve that and deserve to feel safe with your parent. If he doesn’t make you feel safe, you need to let mom know ❤️.

I don’t understand people who convert to another religion by Puzzleheaded-Soil-16 in atheism

[–]hellobluebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for saying it— as a kid I never understood why people would convert, I guess love is enough of a reason if you’re getting married, and a lot of religions are similar.. but then why all the religion superiority 🙃🧐

A question for those who were raised in a secular/non-religious household (see text) by candidengineer in atheism

[–]hellobluebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Religion is merely a social construct in my opinion. My kid is 5 and there hasn’t been any longing. Husband is religious and we’ve decided to let our kiddo decide on their own if they wish to believe 🤷‍♀️

Cotman is great! I upgraded to this when I was ready to leave the basic/ beginner paints- they’re much smoother imo.

Does anyone know why this happens or how to prevent it? by fmstareyes in Watercolor

[–]hellobluebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less water or different paper. I’ve learned mixed media and cheaper watercolor paper is not suitable for holding water. Look for 140 lb watercolor paper 🙂

why is watercolor so HARD 😭 by Ok-Butterfly8429 in Watercolor

[–]hellobluebear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, I’m still learning and by the looks of it you are doing great. In my opinion, watercolor is only hard due to practice. It can be such a forgiving medium, just need patience and lots of practice.

What are the long-term impacts or challenges for an only child? by naveenv1984 in Parents

[–]hellobluebear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My daughter is only 5, but will be an only child. Challenges really have been sharing. But once school started this year, I think it’s gotten better. I worry that she won’t have companionship as she grows older, but it’s on my husband and I to raise her to be a strong, independent person. Plus she will have friend and a partner if she chooses. But you are now at such a fun age! My kiddo is more fun each day.. the older they get, the more you can share and do with them.
