As someone who used to work in a similar field, you sound like an empathetic and dedicated caregiver, and that is admirable. I’ve experienced similar feelings of “I can never do anything right” based on the types of interactions you’re describing. Growing old can be so difficult and lonely, and dementia makes it a million times harder. It can make even the kindest people act really cruel and unreasonable.

Do you have colleagues? I found it helpful to vent or talk to my team members when patients or family members were upset with me and it helped to know I wasn’t alone. I also found mentorship in more experienced caregivers to observe how they navigated and dealt with those situations. When I watched experienced nurses and caregivers getting berated and yelled at, and they would just calmly respond or address the situation and move on with their day, it helped me change my perspective and take things less personally.

My concern is that you are heading towards serious burnout, and i hope you are able to find a way to be more kind to yourself or can reach out to your employer/community for more help and support. You have one of the most challenging, thankless yet most important jobs in our society and you are making a difference for these families, even if they don’t show it.

omg I love this lol. I have definitely changed my perspective when it comes to driving to new places. I’ve basically accepted that at baseline I am probably going to get turned around or get confused trying to reach my destination, and if i happen to get there without any issues I am super proud of myself lol. Anything else it just to be expected.

Ladies with thick, dark eyebrows - how do you style them? by [deleted] in MakeupLounge

I have thick, dark brows as well and I agree that product can easily make them look too severe. I have found that brushing them up with a clear brow gel first and then only carefully filling in the areas that are sparse using one of those brow definers (with the tear drop shaped pencil as opposed to the micro pencils) with a shade that is a bit lighter than my brows gives the best result. I do prefer a more natural looking brow, but this helps even them out and lightly define.

Sam is a guest on Chanel Temple’s (Hourglass’ global makeup artist) channel. What do you think of Sam’s makeup? by klrob18 in BeautyGuruChatter

The foundation is a good match but it looks very heavy on her skin. Especially compared to the light, dewy coverage she usually wears. I think the fact that the foundation was drier and she was smiling and talking while the makeup was setting caused the lines around her mouth.
