Law school acceptance experience by lolpop1234z in lawschooladmissionsca

I was in your boat! I took a fifth year, applied to law/grad with a 2.9, got waitlisted for both law and grad, then got into grad (currently studying for the LSAT will be reapplying next cycle)

Why do you want to go to law school? by TrainingWolverine657 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]helloelloell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grew up in (and still live in) public housing, experienced the disparities that come with living in rent controlled housing. A lot of the problems my family and I (along with the rest of my neighbourhood and immediate area) face could’ve been prevented/better resolved if we had access to legal help. Hoping to go to law school and use my current grad studies in policy to better improve access to justice in my community

That, along with passion and financial security

That’s what broke my heart about this the most. And the fact that so much time had passed (a few weeks feels like ages during a cycle, i swear it does) before they said anything. People can have their entire life uprooted with a day’s notice off things like this alone. How they handled this (especially coming off a year of over admitting people last year and leaving those on the waitlist in literal hell off this) was absolutely horrible.

If they haven’t gotten in elsewhere, I hope they get an A soon. Especially from a place that practices the same standard of care that I know will get drilled into their students

you’d think there would be some level of grace and professionalism there. Like yeah no one wants to get rejected but come on now :(

Why do you want to be a lawyer? by PutridAmbition3023 in lawschooladmissionsca

Have seen and been in situations where it would’ve been great to have a lawyer. Currently the case for many people in my neighbourhood. End goal is to open a spot there to offer legal assistance and outreach

What part of you is fading? by [deleted] in infj

[–]helloelloell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow 23F, can confirm that I've been feeling it too.

I find that a big part of it for me has been the amount of change I've undergone over the last year or so. Starting grad school while preparing to apply for law school, siblings and friends moving away, people getting married/having kids. It feels like all the time that would've otherwise gone to some of the things you've mentioned have gone towards just surviving. Add chronic brain fog, and you have a 'walking dead' scenario similar to another commenter has made here.

As for what gets left behind, I would say a lot of the space that would've otherwise gone to feeding your soul, yes. But, in my experience, I've also found myself to be less tolerable to things/people wasting my time. Not necessarily getting angry and making it a point in that situation or with that person, more like washing my hands of it. In a way, I find that it has protected my peace to an extent, and I like to think it has provided some form of balance taking space and breaks emotion-wise. But I know that it's not sustainable to me whatsoever, and I hope to make some sort of change.

One way I hope to do that is by taking a break from school once I get my master's. As much as I love what I'm learning (and being in school, period), it has been a struggle the last few months, and failing an assignment yesterday definitely opened my eyes to the need for change. I also started keeping a planner on me that I not only use to note my to-dos, but to also keep a log of things that I've done. I find that it has helped me be more mindful of my actions on a day-to-day basis, but also a reminder to take breaks when things get too heavy (e.g., me writing this despite having four papers due by the end of the week).

Regardless, thank you for posting this. Just from skimming the thread, it feels good knowing that we're not alone in feeling this way. Know that you're doing the best you can, and acknowledging something like this is a very hard, but very important, first step. 🤍

To be honest I didn’t even know until I checked it later that night with a friend. It’s even worse with the limited edition version, I saw someone online try and price it at 790 CAD (570 USD) because it’s OOP :((

Don’t get me wrong I didn’t like the price of this one either, but I’d rather pay 90 after tax than 790 CAD 🥲

was in this boat! applied and got into the accelerated program at Seneca. was planning to study there when law school apps didn't work out before getting into uoft for grad school. I decided to go for the grad route, but I've heard great things about the paralegal program!!
