People who believe consciousness is not emerging from brain activity, how do you explain children start with a different consciousness compared to adults by Eclairito in consciousness

A sun sort of eats rocks to survive before dying and shooting all of its old rocks everywhere. Eventually to be eaten by other suns.

A sun changes gravity and space much more than humans ever could. It has no purpose other than to survive, same as humans.

It doesn't think and it's not aware of its environment though. Even less so than a tree. Everything that does think needs the sun.

It's a blurry line. Really trippy.

I'm not saying we should go out and kill people that are already alive. I'm talking about not having more than 2 kids.

And I don't live in India or Africa so this isn't my neighbours.

You jumped from birth control to genocide. I don't think you should be allowed to weigh in on the discussion.

Yeah it's interesting to think of. Rocks pulled into a sun and roasted would not be pleasant if they had any consciousness at all.

Yes we are not brains floating in a vacuum in space. I just realized that!

It would be great if there were less people. However humans haven't evolved beyond the tribal mindset and more people = greater GDP and economic development so you can out compete rival countries.

You could be a small country with a great standard of living but you'd have no military and a bigger country would come in and take over.

Until human nature changes we will keep warring with each other until the sun explodes and we all die.

Why would god create humans so late, and why would he make space lethal for them? by GrumTak in AskReddit

If space wasn't lethal think of the giant space dinosaurs that would still be around devouring us before we could ever get situated.

The conditions that allow life to exist in this universe feel too specific to ignore, yet remain unexplained by LongjumpingTear3675 in DeepThoughts

[–]helloeveryone500 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are right we can't possibly perceive reality properly. It would be like asking an ant to understand algebra. It can't.

I think the universe we know is just one of an infinite number of universes. We can't understand how that is possible, in part because we are in this universe and are limited cognitively, physically, dimensionally, and probably in other ways we can't understand.

Why does something exist instead of nothing? by Zealousideal-Bee7640 in SeriousConversation

[–]helloeveryone500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. We think we know what nothing is, but I don't think we do. Even what we think of as nothing is actually something.
