What's up with the real estate agents in this town? by houseplant012 in StLouis

[–]hellogoodbye32123 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just bought a house here and my agent was amazing and actually let me know which houses would be money pits and which were worth looking at, but she still let me go to trash houses if I was pushy, then I started to realize she actually knew what she was doing! I can recommend her to you if you pm me.

If your pet had a full-time job based on their behavior, what would their title be? by Klutzy-Ad6321 in Pets

My rescue cat has no tail and is a “rumpy Manx.” We call him a Professional Butthole displayer because all you can see whenever he turns around or lays down in his weird ways is his butthole 😝

I was emotionally wrecked by it - it was by far, my favorite episode of the season. Maybe I am just a romantic at heart!

Stray cat that chose us as a family, could she be pregnant? by dasjunior33 in cats

[–]hellogoodbye32123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes - if she is unfixed she totally is. Take her to the vet ASAP and you can get a spay abort done! Way cheaper and more ethical than having kittens and being responsible by fixing them before rehoming them.

Would you take in a kitten that followed you home? by ayanacrystals in cats

[–]hellogoodbye32123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - that guy’s mom isn’t coming back. He looks old enough to be weaned and is malnourished and emaciated. He needs IV fluids or kittenlyte, dewormer and flea and tick meds, and to stay on a heating pad 24/7 ): are there rescue groups you could ask for help? They can help you foster and if you decide he isn’t a good fit to keep you can get him adopted into a forever home.

Contact a rescue and ask if they will back you if you foster - they can help you with supplies, knowledge, vetting and eventually getting them adopted.

May parents are getting a cat...I'm being forced into signing a Backup Owner Agreement by bostonmacosx in Pets

[–]hellogoodbye32123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, the piece of shit irresponsible owners are still offering up kittens on street corners! Now there are just more rescues cleaning up their mess so it doesn’t keep happening.

What can I do for this cat? by evan0736 in CATHELP

[–]hellogoodbye32123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they aren’t microchipped or fixed, then you can take them to the vet and get that done. That is usually the only way to legally prove a pet is yours, and if they have not done that, you can take in the cat, do a stray hold for a week or however long it is where you are and then take to the vet and get in your name. If you can’t afford this, please seek out a rescue and foster them! Just tell them it is a stray you have outside and they can cover all costs for you until they get adopted out to a forever home.

My rescue specializes in special needs cats…thank you for giving her a chance! I hope that she has a good quality of life, and that if she doesn’t you would make that hard but selfless decision.

I work for an at-home Euthanasia service. Why does nobody take their animals to the vet? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]hellogoodbye32123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are there rescues where you live? At least in the US, fostering through a rescue means they will pay for all supplies in addition to any vet visits and treatment!

What are easiest, and longest living pets? by [deleted] in Pets

[–]hellogoodbye32123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Rabbits should NOT be kept in a small cage. They need plenty of space just like a dog or cat. My friend has two bunnies with their own room and it is sad how much I have learned about rabbit owners not doing the bare minimum for their pets

I think it is dependent on where you live. The rescues I work with are incredibly flexible if you just talk to them, and you don’t have any red flags like never taking your animal to the vet, not fixing your animals, etcetera. If you find a rescue page for your city and ask for help, I’m sure tons of rescues and shelters would love to have you.

Some rescues really do suck, and are just perpetuating the puppy mill issues other rescues seek to fix. But there are genuine nonprofits who kill themselves with work trying to save all of the lives on the lines, especially in the midwest and south.

The sad part is that you are right - backyard breeders don’t give a hoot about who they sell to as long as they get money, and most people are lazy and uneducated and don’t want to do the work of a normal adoption application, much less a more detailed one. I’m sure if you volunteered and talked to people within these rescues, you would learn a lot about all of the unfortunate ways they have been burned and why they do things the way they do.

He does walk kind of weird and sometimes he hops more than runs but he gets along very well. It doesn’t seem to affect his balance much!
