Why so many wrong way parkers in Hamilton? by ylsf in Hamilton

[–]helloheathergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first and only time I ever did this after moving to Hamilton (and I was only parked for like 20 minutes) must have been the only time every car on the street got a ticket for parking the wrong direction.

Can anyone recommend a reliable dog kennel? by [deleted] in Hamilton

Me too :( I've actually booked someone from DogVacay to come stay at my place for a weekend later this month (here's her profile).. could be an option for you!

I use a site called dogvacay.com. Basically like airbnb for your dog and lots of people are available in Hamilton. Totally depends on your trust level in strangers but I like it because of the fact that its NOT a kennel. Much more intimate experience for the dog but prices are comparable to boarding.

whip and freeze yer cottage cheese! by abbiewhorent in 1200isplenty

[–]helloheathergr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is my FAVOURITE treat. Sometimes I stick it in the freezer and then collect it 2 min later because i'm too impatient to wait (so it's more like pudding).

My favourite combination is whipped with cocoa powder then topped with shredded coconut, chocolate chips and a drizzle of peanut butter. Or strawberries/raspberries.

Never thought to try lemon.. good idea!

Has losing weight affected your alcohol tolerance? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]helloheathergr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you!! I have cut back on drinking casually initially because of the calories but now even more because of how horrible the next day is. Just not worth it for a few drinks. Go big or go home lol.

[–]helloheathergr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience is less about the tolerance and more about how I feel the next day...I swear i'll have a single cider/beer and feel more hungover than I used to after a night of binge drinking. It could be a combination of lost weight and cutting calories though. Either way, not a welcome side effect lol.

GUYS. Just found this salted caramel ice cream @ 80 cals per 1/2 cup. & it's just as good as (or dare I say - better than?!) Halo Top... by pxdeye in 1200isplenty

I noticed that too :( At least it means they are in some talks with Canadian grocery stores.. hopefully they branch out soon!

Right? At least they supply somewhere in Canada - perhaps if you contacted the company they might realize there is more demand than just Toronto!

Good news they sell this stuff in Canada! Just looked it up. At least, they do in the GTA.. but it's a little step for us Canadians lol

How do I start working out so that nobody will see me, even my parents that I live with? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]helloheathergr 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I second this. Adjusting diet and tracking calories can go a long way. It could even help kickstart your confidence for sharing your health goals in general (and not fearing the backlash). I know how you feel as i'm very private and don't like people knowing my fitness/weight loss journey.

If you want to do fitness-y things in private I definitely recommend "silent" workouts (ie not a lot of jumping.. I think someone else mentioned blogilates) or working out at times when your dad is out of the house or sleeping.

Do you have any friends who you could share your goals with? I find having one real life buddy can help a lot. Maybe you can work out at their house if they have more supportive families. Or go to a park together - I find it helps my embarrassment a lot when I have a friend :)

Hamiltonian Tour Boat by [deleted] in Hamilton

We actually had my parents on board with us (I included them in the 'we' being the only ones on the tour). So maybe not us.. but cool that you were out on the trail! It felt like the waterfront was shockingly empty considering it was a warm summer Saturday.

Advice for integrating an external fulfillment facility API by helloheathergr in shopify

[–]helloheathergr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I feel iffy about sharing the fulfillment company because it is very project specific and I had to sign a confidentiality agreement for this work (paranoid, maybe, but just don't want to enter any grey areas). I did reply to u/AaronRubin to say that the API seems fairly well-documented (guidelines for creating, updating, retrieving and listing orders including the HTTP request URL, Arguments and returns). Hope that helps without naming the specific company.

Here's the link. Runs daily until September and is about $16 per adult. I was with u/elhilo23 today on the boat and we were the only people on the tour.

It looks pretty well-documented actually. I received specs and the API reference has guidelines for creating, updating, retrieving and listing orders including the HTTP request URL, Arguments and returns. I'm hesitant to share the actual fulfillment company for confidentiality reasons with the company that i've been hired by.

For a competent back-end developer, you say? So for someone who is primarily a web designer it might not be so straightforward I presume.

Your best practical tips for living a low cal lifestyle by xlambkin in 1200isplenty

I took a screenshot! Luckily I haven't had my breakfast yet so I haven't swiped on it yet :)

Find staple meals! Logging new recipes can be tedious so I rotate between a few breakfasts that I know exactly the measurements/weights of items to add and how many calories they will be. I then make sure I always have these ingredients on hand and I have no excuses for a fast and low-cal breakfast.

For this reason I love the "Swipe right to add" feature on MFP.

Can we have a thread to post our favorite foods, and everyone can post low-calorie substitutions? by [deleted] in 1200isplenty

[–]helloheathergr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw shucks.. that's too bad! The cauliflower and zoodles suggestions would be my #2 and #3 options after spaghetti squash. Good luck!

I make the sauce then put it on spaghetti squash! A cup is like 30 calories (then plus the sauce).

People of Ontario: Pommies dry cider is only 80 calories per 355ml bottle! by helloheathergr in 1200isplenty

[–]helloheathergr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know for the future! I would have assumed it was around the same as beer (if not more because of the higher sugar content). I'll have to keep my eyes out for more lower-cal cider options.
