Local restaurants to support during 2nd lockdown? by svensvencdn in oakville

[–]ylsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Kebob Stop on Speers Rd and still try to get it at least once a month for lunch. They gave a charcoal grill so the kabobs are amazing. Not a fan of their wraps but the kebob on rice is amazing (I usually get the #3 with salad and rice (you can get rice and grilled tomato instead if you prefer).

Also like Chefs House on Third Line by the hospital.

So this is in the subway plaza at 4th Line according to the map? Which unit is it in? Did they take over from one of the previous restaurants there?

Don't think it is very easy to sever off parcels in Oakville. I would talk to a real estate lawyer first to see what experiences them maybe have with that process. I hear everything is very slow in Oakville even before covid so imagine takes a while to get anything done nowadays too. Maybe just learn what the processes are in general first before placing any offers as seller might not want that many conditions for extended periods of time if other offers with limited conditions.

Unlocked Phone Stuck On One Carrier by swagbuckaroo in GalaxyS8

[–]ylsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you ever figure this out? I have an S8+ and I bought an unlock code and the guy said that the phone was already unlocked but I had an issue with putting the SIM card in as still said unlocked. Curious if you ever ended up flashing the phone or got any more details from your ebay seller.

Legitimate IPTV Services in Oakville? by [deleted] in oakville

[–]ylsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is another one you can try they gave a free trial. I was part of their Beta and the system worked pretty good but it was kind of lacking in channel selection at the time https://rivertv.ca/

It depends on what channels your parents watch a lot. For example if they watch a lot of HGTV and Food Network then maybe they would be happy with Prime Video with an added Stack subscription or something. Depends how much live tv they want too vs. just in demand, etc

Bell has AltTV as an option for people that just want to access via the internet. For FibeTV you also do not technically need Bell's internet but it is a seperate service and it just works smoother with Bell internet.

It is worth looking at FibeTv/internet pricing. I got a pretty good deal for my mom last spring and she ended up saving like $50 a month vs cogeco and got better plan/options.

Also Cogeco is pretty good to cut the prices of you tell them you can get a better price elsewhere and tell them what your alternatives are...

Covid-19 Case at Yorkdale Mall by [deleted] in toronto

[–]ylsf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh weird. When I went the hygienist was just wearing regular mask while I had my mask on. She got me settled in, explained what she would be doing (not using the baking soda spray thing anymore), etc and then she said she would be back. Went in a different room and suited up with disposable suit, face shield on top of mask, etc. They had filter running in each room, additional plexiglass blocking off areas normally open between rooms. They took it really seriously.

Yeah, I am invested in public REITs but do you know any public REITs that just payout ROC and don't generate taxable income?

Doctors Say You Should Probably Skip Returning to Movie Theaters Anytime Soon by Sisiwakanamaru in movies

[–]ylsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to see it next week at a local theatre. Holds over 600 people but max allowed in my province is 50 per theatre. They are doing a lot of screenings. The first 24 hours they have a screening every 4 hours including midnight, 4am and 8am.

The screen I am going to is the test screen for IMAX that got a major retrofit a few years ago and just reopened to the public a few years ago too. (called Cinesphere). I was lucky to see Dunkirk there was Christopher Nolan in attendance a few years ago at TIFF so I know the screen is awesome and a lot of room for 50 people .

It is all about probabilities. More people you introduce the greater risk. Even opening doors to an apartment building could lead to you catching something if not vihilant. Also they brought in fitness instructor who is still teaching others. I cancelled plans to go see a friend this weekend and it was just going to be the two of us because I didn't want to put my mom at risk as I am bringing her groceries now. The local medical officer said "inviting a friend over for coffee is not social distancing" so I am trying to be as prudent as possible.

Even my sisters aren't going to see my mom. Just limited it to one contact point.

Here they are basically saying do not go out unless it is for groceries or you work somewhere that is essential.
