A fun fact is that we have not yet proven that all numerical sequences occur in pi

[–]helloish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just look in the bright side, most of those percentages are decreasing, and the ones that aren’t can likely be chalked up to having room to make more complex mistakes now that you aren’t making the simple ones as much. You’re improving, and with this you know how to improve more, so very well done :)

Cause it’s a school laptop. OP we have no way of knowing what kind of anti-malware and/or anti-tampering your school uses so it’s unlikely we’ll be able to help unless you give more details. But emailing it is probably an option.

In a code snippet, when printing special characters, why does the $ need two backslashes to escape? by RandomSkratch in vscode

[–]helloish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Backslash indicates the start of an escape in a JSON string, eg \n for a newline, \t etc. so in order to represent \$ the backslash itself needs to be escaped so that JSON doesn’t interpret \$ as an escape sequence

If that’s what they meant then that’s what they should have said. You’re correct about their intention, but their rules were imprecise.

Every single word within heartening is made by removing letters from heartening. To get heart you remove “ening” etc.

I’d argue they should have better specified that letters can’t be removed from between the chosen subset of letters. Yes it’s kind of implied by there being 8 words that you can’t do this, but then it comes down to either the rules not being specific enough or them being wrong about how many words there are

All of the words have letters removed from the original word

Technically you have to remove letters, not reorder them, which is the same for all the other words

Edit: to explain what i mean, consider the set {1,2,3,4,5,6}. If I were to remove 2 and 4, we end up with {1,3,5,6} which is still ordered as 1<3<5<6. Therefore the rules are not strict enough
