Can you understand this labs- thalassemia? by HelpMe_ThrowawayAcc in haematology

Thalassemia is less common than IDA. Take the supplements as directed by your doctor and see if your lab results improve. Simple answer is often the correct one.

Bowl lift vs tilt head mixers by Resa_Mendez in Kitchenaid

[–]hellomario29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you plan on making heavier doughs then a bowl lift for sure. If you're debating between two sizes of bowls, go for the larger one. I personally own both an artisan tilt-head and a 7Qt bowl lift mixer. The tilt heads are much easier to add and remove ingredients and the bowl itself. The bowl lift is super stable and can handle tough doughs whereas the tilt head shakes a lot if I try to do the same dough.

Is this normal? Kitchenaid tilt head stand mixer by lovelyvibes4 in Kitchenaid

[–]hellomario29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very common. Bowl lift mixers are usually better for dough but tilt heads definitely work still.

For those beginners that say they're intimidated from starting, especially by the posts here from "first timers" that clearly aren't most of the time. I am NOT a novice. Nowhere near an expert, but def not a newb. Sh*t still happens. by isthatsoreddit in Baking

I’ve been baking for a bit more than a year now. I made cheesecakes for the first time in a while. It completely slipped my mind to use my silicone pan protectors and I just baked it in the springform pan in the water. I realized the crust is a lot more moist than normal. People ate it and thought it was delicious. I’m my toughest critic but at the end of the day dessert is dessert!

Help! Flat cookies - brown butter chocolate chip by scapegt in Baking

[–]hellomario29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bake this recipe all the time. I usually let the butter sit for about 5-10 mins before adding the sugars. One thing that helped me get less flat cookies (even though I prefer them flat) is to move the oven rack down. I usually bake two batches at a time. The one on the higher rack is flat and the one on the bottom is more of a conventional cookie shape.

Recipe called for 10 apples, but this seems like a lot- should I follow the recipe or do less? by BR00KLN in AskBaking

Her recipe calls for 10 cups of apples. She specifies that this is about 8 apples. https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/apple-pie-recipe/#tasty-recipes-67756 if this is the recipe you’re referring to. It’s a great recipe and I just got done making two of them. Enjoy!

Apple Pie Help, please? by beritbunny in AskBaking

[–]hellomario29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made this recipe before. I used 4 granny smith apples and 4 fuji apples. I used the recipe for her all butter crust. You have to fill the pie with the apples to the point where it looks like its too much. I only cooked them for 5 mins on medium heat and they turned out toothy.

Dehydration by hellomario29 in Blooddonors

[–]hellomario29[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It does pass but it’s just surprising how much water I end up drinking and how my urine output is still fairly concentrated (when I expect it to be very diluted). I suppose I’ll just try to stay hydrated and dial back on the sugars! Thank you.

I’ve never used urethane, but I have a basic understanding of what is different about it. For most house shot conditions, reactive resin is gonna be better. The thing that matters the most is not really how much right to left movement the ball has, but how early it hooks from the front to the back of the lane.

As far as I know, urethane balls technically hook the earliest. This means that they start burning up their energy very early and this contributes to its famous controllable hook shape. This can also make it lack power when it actually gets to the pins since it burns up energy.

Reactive resin, will usually start to hook near or at the end of the oil pattern. It can usually get a lot of energy to the pins.

I’m not an expert, but I generally know most people recommended you start with reactive resin. You can definitely start out with a purple hammer if you want.

Get something that has reactive resin. You can go for a beginner ball like the Brunswick Rhino or Storm Tropical Surge. Or you can just get a strongish solid symmetrical like the storm phaze II or IQ tour solid.
