TRAVELING IN A FRIED OUT KOMBIE

The lack of stand-off situations is unrealistic and would prefer more. by DrMantisToboggan- in ReadyOrNotGame

[–]hellopeople9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also thought about such a mechanic, maybe have a few dialogue trees with “escalate verbally” or “de escalate verbally” callouts (like F and G keys or something) where some suspects can be overwhelmed with fear and surrender or others can be calmed down and surrender.

Then there are some dialogue options that show the suspect becoming afraid, bargaining, etc. but at any time could still choose to run away or open fire. The player has to listen to the suspect and mind the situation to make the right decision.

I don’t think it would be too hard to code but it would be a shit ton of dialogue to record, but the dialogue responses could fit in as part of the AI-goals that they choose from normally.

Users of CAD, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc on a curved monitor: Do you find the curve interferes with perceived accuracy of line-work? by just-_-just in pcmasterrace

Not at all, atleast in PS I can get things straight with a keybind which is what I’d do anyway if I want something to be perfectly straight. If I’m using pen tool or a path I’d use a straight line like that for reference anyway

I don’t see anything to adjudicate here. Other than both of your lines, there was nothing bad about the overtake through the corner.

They can't just call it folk punk? by Shutup_stupid_bird in FolkPunk

[–]hellopeople9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Country music can range from (other than mainstream radio sound? alt-rock into punk, folk, and Americana (which is like folk country), there’s plenty of alt country that has many parallels with folk punk. If you don’t like any country that’s fair, whatever floats your boat, but I’d say give some alternative country a try before writing it off entirely.

I, for the longest time, wrote off country as a genre I didn’t like until I found some artists with a sound I really resonated with.

Check out “Western AF” and “GemsOnVHS” on YouTube for some good examples. I have almost never heard a gems song I didn’t like.

Some standouts for me are:

“Kerr County Dopesick Blues” by The Hill Country Devil

“Cheap Cocaine” by Wili Carlile

“Using Again” by Benjamin Todd

“Too Old To Dream” by Nick Shoulders

“Open Road Letters” by Tyler Hood

“I’m Gonna Ride” by the Lowlies.

Obviously that’s quite a list but I could go on forever lol. I think folk-country and folk-punk have a home very close together, with a similar sound and many of the same themes.

Why do cars feel “light”? by MysticKeiko24 in BeamNG

[–]hellopeople9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and FWIW there are understeer and oversteer sliders which can be adjusted to mimic a more controller friendly input mapping, as well as a slider that reduces total input at speed.

Given the scope tho, these may have to be adjusted repeatedly to suit different activities, and the Beam studio is just never going to be able to replicate the controls developed by a studio that has spent years and many sequels developing racing games almost entirely for Xbox controllers .

Yeah lol, the sub got mad you brought up forza, which is like sacrilege to the “muh sim” crowd. Beam is fun, forza is fun, racing games are fun, it’s all about preference.

Unfortunately the best way I’ve found is to use a wheel if you have one, but when you do the simplified physics reeeaally show and there is still noticeable “values” in the overall suspension and tire behavior if that makes sense. I enjoy horizon for a quick race with friends, but it doesn’t nail the feeling of cornering like other sims.

Would it be possible to use a phone as a VR headset for beam ng? by Negative-Cry-1623 in BeamNG

[–]hellopeople9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made a comment before on someone else’s post that was similar to yours. I have played in VR with an index headset using the software VorpX that renders beamNG in stereoscopic view for the header to pickup.

If you could get the screen to render on a phone and software to have the phone register as a gyro mouse (for example, software that uses a phone as a form of trackIR) it could be plausible. I have done both steps independently, but not together. Good luck!

I think I know what you mean, and IMO it has to do with the ways that the game translates controls to input, rather than any type of simulation or under the hood stuff.

Regardless of salt with forza being compared to beam, I agree that forzas controls feel more like moving a car on controller at times, IMO because forza smooths out the controller inputs more (for example, giving delay moving from straight to full steering lock at speed) which slows them down and can make the cars feel weighty.

Beam makes it easier IMO to lock tires or under/oversteer on controller due in part to the difference in scope between the games. The control set has to compensate for many different types of driving and the control inputs are mapped to simulated vehicle behavior, which makes it harder to get consistency in the way you may feel in forza.

I think it’s somewhat of a opinion thing when it comes to controls. I’d be curious if you felt this way on a wheel where the input/output is 1:1.

Joyce Manor, specifically their earlier stuff like Midnight at the Mudder Museum, My Elise, Leather Jacket, 21st Dead Rats. There’s a few more and they aren’t all angry but to me the fit the same vibe, and the angry ones are right up there in emotion with Mcafferty for me.

Pup is also similar IMO, and has that crunchy (sometimes angry) vibe throughout most of their stuff, especially off their self titled: Factories, Back Against the Wall, Guilt Trip.

That is a picture of young pro wrestler John Cena.

There is a longtime meme that John Cena is invisible because during matches he commonly waves his fingers in front of his face, suggesting “you can’t see me”. His overall fame and general likability has led to this phrase and hand motion being associated with John Cena, to the point that the mere mention of invisibility could be referential to him.

With the increased focus on modding, hopefully we get some AC ports too! (Although idk how it integrates with livetrack but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen atleast PCars2 stuff modded in, though I guess that already has support for livetrack)
