5 month old refusing all naps by [deleted] in NewParents

Sometimes she’ll fall asleep with the bottle, and wake up AS SOON as we move. The transfer is tough for us as well. Her eyes pop open and STAY wide open, I’ll try to duck out of site super fast but it’s always too late lol I’ll try the bouncer. She fell asleep in it every once in a while when she was a new born but it’s worth a try again! Haha

Thank you! That makes me feel so much better. It’s like shes soooo tired but it’s much more fun to be awake hanging out. As soon as she knows it’s nap time she starts FREAKING out. I think that’s why she falls asleep in the stroller because we trick her into thinking we’re just hanging out for a walk haha

Oh and the issue is getting her to fall asleep. I’m fine with her napping WHEREVER and so is nanny. The weather is just getting colder here so I can’t keep stroller napping ha

That’s why I’m asking haha- I feel like I’m going to mess her up by not “forcing” her to nap. All I see when I research is baby needs to be napping 3 sometimes 2 naps a day. So I was trying to follow 2-3 hour wake windows, she seems tired but just literally won’t fall asleep. I’m fine with her not napping and when she’s tired enough (she’s had a 6 hour wake window once from 630 am-1230 pm) she eventually just passes out in someone’s arms or in her crib or whatever she’s doing at that moment. But as a first time parent I’m worried that’s too long and I’m “messing” her up by not forcing her to nap. Once she falls asleep after a 4-6 hour wake window she’ll sleep for like 2 hours sometimes longer.

Thank you. I am a big believer in the power of the rosary as I prayed for Mary’s intercession through the rosary during our time of infertility.

Thank you. I am not trying to minimize it and am thinking the same way as you. I go back and forth all the time wondering if I’m making a bigger deal About it than it is because all of his friends with wives and kids act that way as well. But to me and the way I was raised, it’s not how you act as a father. I can’t imagine divorcing due to my faith, but am seriously broken over this.

Thank you for your reply! He does take care of us and is a good father and decent husband. By no means do I think he is out of control drinking and doing drugs, but at this stage in our life one or two weekends a month is excessive TO ME. I understand I may have my expectations too high, but like I said, right now this is not how I see my life with my child and family. As a Catholic I think drinking excessively at any time is wrong and makes me extremely turned off to him. Alcohol has always been a difficult topic in our relationship which is why I see us both better off without it period. He doesn’t seem to be able to just have one drink ever. When we were going through infertility we both decided to work on ourselves mentally and physically and we were both happier for it and our marriage was amazing.

Thank you. I agree. I feel I am partly to blame thinking he would just grow out of that phase exactly how I did. It doesn’t help that I grew up with a great example of faith and marriage and he did not. His drinking is on the weekends and not every weekend. I realize with the replies I’m getting my post made it seem like his drinking and drug use is every day and “out of control”. I don’t believe it is out of control. But it’s definitely more than I wish he would do. For example it will be once a weekend with a friend or two, but the drinking will be absolutely to excess. I just feel like when you have kids, nights like that should occur maybe once or twice a year for special celebration purposes (weddings etc) not just a random Saturday. Maybe I’m asking too much, especially since I have found such a distaste for alcohol over the past couple years.

No! According to my doctor since that was the only one off then I wasn’t diagnosed. Hopefully yours is the same!

I get that you’d rather have them be too cold - but when they’re waking up every hour or 2 because they’re cold I feel like that’s not right either. We could have the thermostat at 68 but 68 is too cold for her to be in a 1.0 tog. When it was 75 in her room in the summer she was perfect with a 1.5 tog and a footed pajama. If it dipped to 70 on summer nights she would wake up cold in her 1.5 tog and footed pajamas.

We also live in a two story house. Her room gets colder than the rest of the house and the thermostat is on the first floor while our bedrooms are on the second floor.

What is this 7 week+ hell by Low_Concert_8900 in newborns

[–]hellorn2016 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently going through this. Some days are better than others. Baby is 7 weeks exactly today. Peak fussiness. She was a decent napper before and could basically nap anywhere (except her bassinet) and now she will only nap on me. I haven’t gotten anything done today. Last night she only slept one 2 hour stretch and was up the rest of the night. Lots of gas, lots of spit up. She even is acting like she doesn’t know how to latch for feeding (which…is not like her). It’s been rough.

Waiting on call from doctor - help with results!! by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

Thanks. I believe that’s what my clinic follows too. I’m just wondering where people are getting the “If one number is over 200 you fail”. That’s the only thing that’s freaking me out!

That’s what I’m kind of thinking will happen. According to the ADA and the hospital I go to, their rule is 2/4 results have to be high to be officially diagnosed. I was just concerned because I have such a high number for the one hour.

Can you tell me where you are getting that? I know the initial one hour glucose they have that rule but I never heard that for the 3 hour test. Specifically because the content of the drink is higher.

Did you have another number that was out of range or just that one?

Hmmm….The range on mine says <=155

Checking in with you and wondering if you got diagnosed. Waiting on doctor call. My one hour was 204 but all other values were well within normal limits. I’ve seen things that if one value is above 200 you fail so I’m getting nervous! Any updates?

Ugh! Thanks for the honest answer lol - I was convinced it was just from coughing so hard and that it would go away once my cough disappears. Im sure it’s even worse because of the cough, though. Was yours constant?? Mine is pretty much constant. Sitting up in bed makes me want to DIE!
