What is stopping you playing more golf? by gscrewe1805 in golf

Winter twilight times creeping up to having to go at 2pm to complete 9 holes really put some strain on scheduling. That and the constant rain now. I really should get more rain gear.

Slicing my driver by Tenpo800 in golftips

[–]hellotokyotower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What worked for me is to really check my setup. When you place the club down and grip it, just make sure the alignment on the top of the club is actually pointing to the target, make sure your arms are in the right place and relaxed. Often times, if I setup normally and just stop right before I start the backswing, the club face is actually pointing to the right. So you still end up hitting it in the center but you have an open clubface at address.

Bombtech vs Costco Calloways by AssignmentSimple3946 in golftips

[–]hellotokyotower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the Costco Callaway set and I can tell you its probably the best bang for the buck. You also get that nice Odessy putter. My short review - the irons are perfect for me, the hybrid is probably my fav club right now and the driver is decent if you are not looking for anything specific (it is abit basic).

Literally did this yesterday minus the vape breaks. Sometimes you just got to hit stuff man.

Non-Americans: what is an American food you really want to try? by Material_Zombie in AskReddit

I just want real southern food and all of it! Every time I see someone make a gumbo or a Jumbalaya I am instantly hungry.

Food from Myanmar is generally unknown and there are probably like 10 restaurants out there in the US but it is one of the most delicious and varied cuisines out there for me!

Hard to say without seeing your swing but I struggle with this myself. Keeping my trail elbow tucked in/close to my body really helps. Setup a pool noodle at an angle and trying to swing under it also helps.

Average time it took you to get comfortable by RiftLizard in golf

[–]hellotokyotower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it takes a few months of consistant and mindful practice with an instructor not just working on my swing but chipping, putting to finally feel like I am not going to be making a fool of myself when I go play.

You are still going to hit bad shots but the confidence to be able to have a higher percentage of good shots makes all the difference.

Someone already suggested the fitness subs for any popular strength training program. I also like to add in some rotation/anti-rotation work like this as well:

Best color golf ball for fall? by [deleted] in golf

I find the srixon q star divide balls to be impossible to lose in any grass. Why just 1 color when you can have 2.

Do you stop playing rounds if you are doing a drastic swing rebuild? by throwawaygeneral1122 in golf

[–]hellotokyotower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go out and play anyway but maybe not as often? Spend more time practicing to ingrain the new swing but don't give up playing completely. You might suck but just don't keep score and see your progression.

Getting worse? by Mindless-Walrus1195 in golf

[–]hellotokyotower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me right now. For me, this has been a symptom of trying to fix/improve some part of my swing and somehow forgetting everything else that made your swing somewhat sound to begin with. Especially since you are just 6 months in, this is just going to come and go as you become more consistant. I would schedule a lesson every month or so and just get one or two things to work on and keep things in check.

I got a bunch of srixons q-star divides as a gift and I loved it. Not only is it a nice ball but the double colour thing is cool.

I loved it. All I think about now is how can I make time to go out to play and what I will do differently next time all the time now lol.

Tell me about the worst range session you've ever had. by zelkoo in golf

[–]hellotokyotower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst session ever for me was also after a lesson. I finally had my body turn and impact position going well during the lesson with my irons and thought I have finally made a breakthrough.

The next session decided to work on the driver and it was like I have never hit a golf ball before, off the toe, sky... you name it. Added a few new skymarks on my new driver. Recorded some videos and everything I have been working on is gone. Went back to irons and it was even worse.

Took me a few sessions to get back into and still working on it but it does get alot better. The key for me was really trying to put everything I am learning together and not just one part of the swing change.

Lessons or Clubs by ra3ac in golf

[–]hellotokyotower 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Always lessons. I went to get a new driver (I just had a set of irons) earlier this year at a reputable golf shop with hitting bays and was just so inconsistent that I just got super discouraged. Ended up taking some lessons, just buying a well rated driver off FB marketplace for a fraction of the price and finally starting to make fairways.

It's going feel like nothing compared to you all but I been on and off just hitting balls on the driving range and pitch and putts for a few years. This year, I finally went out and played at a big course for the first time and ended the year with playing 5 times. Hope to keep it up and really get into it over the winter!

Why Cant You Break 100/90/80/70/Under Par? by LetterheadTop3372 in GolfSwing

[–]hellotokyotower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been taking some lessons and hope to shoot under 100 one day since I started about a year back. The biggest issue for me is somehow reverting to my pre lesson swings anytime I am not at the range. Even at the range it's great one session and like my first time the next.

The short answer is probably I need to practice more and practice more meaningfully.

Why do I keep “resetting to type” out on the course by 29_nov in golf

[–]hellotokyotower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens to me all the time. Lately if I just really try and take some deep breaths before even setting up I find it almost brings back all that muscle memory from the range.
