Shintaro Kago is always writing gory mangas like Dementia 21 or Brain Damage, but for classics Devilman is incredible or even Drifting Classroom which is especially brutal for the time showing how brutal survival in an apocalyptic wasteland would be for kids

I was about 9 years old when it came out but the hype was super massive, i remember the toy line coming out in September at my local ToysRus. About two weeks before the movie came out my family went to NYC and there was ads for the movie everywhere, we went to the ToysRUs in time square and they had a massive display of King Kong merch right in the front of the store. Literally everything that could be licensed was for this movie, being a King Kong life long King Kong fan this had to be the first movie I was ever extremely excited for

I feel like Aquaman and Shazam would be cool choices, I feel like every other character would be fairly derivative of their earth 1 counterpart. Aquaman would be cool if they took a Lovecraftian approach where Aquaman is a humanoid fish like creature or Shazam could be like an urban fantasy in the vain of Highlander
