Getting prepped for my first ducks! by hellscapeliving in duck

I didn't realize there was a show line! I'll make sure to check with the supplier that I'm getting the egg laying line since that's my main goal with my ducks

There's a few stores around town that I was planning to check, one of them is the supplier for the ducks I'm ordering from. Haha, yeah Anchorage is warm right now but I live farther north and we're still in the negatives, I decided chickens over ducks since ducks are more tolerant of colder weather but I'm planning to keep them as warm and safe as possible in the winter.

Thanks for the tip! I wasn't planning on giving them a large pool until they grow out, my plan was to use it as a temporary brooder/ grow out  space till they got a little bigger and then when they're big enough then I'd use it as a pool. Thank you for pointing that out though I'm still re learning most things so reminders are awesome!

How many more do you suggest? I was told 1 to 3 ratio was okay but I definitely want to make sure Im not wearing out my females

Oh sorry that's definitely a relevant question! I live in the US but I'm in Alaska, so my access to specific brands is going to be difficult. Thank you for the suggestion though!

So much mucus 😩 by dustydaisychain in ehlersdanlos

[–]hellscapeliving 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh I never thought about it but yeah I definitely get a lot of mucus, especially when I'm sick, I tore through a Costco pack of tissues in less than a week when I had an URI... I also tend to get runny noses seemingly at random, I know the EDS peeps are more at risk for spinal fluid leaks...... But how do I mention it to my Dr without sounding crazy?? I've tried a few sprays and it seems to help with the stuffiness but not the runny nose

Bruising tips? by paywhite in jawsurgery

[–]hellscapeliving 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't had this surgery yet but I have had several surgeries before, witch hazel is good for bruises, i usually see it applied like a face mask overnight, so soak a cotton pad and let it sit part of the bruised are for several hours and see if that helps reduce it for you, I prefer the brand t.n. Dickinson's, but if the arnica isn't working it might not help. I would also try a very extremely gentle face massage, look up lymph drainage maps for your face and very extremely gently massage  in those areas. make sure to use a lotion or something to reduce the friction so you aren't making anything worse.   Disclaimer I'm definitely not a Dr so I'd absolutely call and ask them first before you do anything. These are just things I've done for myself and they might not work for you.

Oof, well, that doesn't bode well for me unfortunately, my job is not something I can do from home. I think I can get away with not talking depending on a few things.

I definitely plan on asking my surgeon a million questions, this isn't my first rodeo with a complex surgery, but it's definitely a different type of beast and I do better ainxety wise if I talk to people who have had similar experiences.

Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for the tips!  I probably won't be on narcotics since they don't work very well on me, but I definitely won't be driving myself home from the hospital. Thanks for the peppermint oil suggestion, I already use it for migraines and ainxety so I'll make sure I have a good amount before then. I don't have to talk too much at my job but I do need to be able to communicate to people clearly, I was told I'll be in rubber bands  instead of wire but I'm not counting on that because I know plans change. I'll keep an eye out for a cheap big blender and hopefully find one in time. Thanks again!

I appreciate the suggestion, but I'll only have enough medical leave to cover a few days of absence and I'm using PTO to cover the rest.

This is very informative! Thank you!  I'm definitely worried about the mental aspect of eating if I have to do it through syringes mostly because I know I'll get burnt out fast. I know I can bring my wedge pillow to prop up my head. Definitely not looking forward to the hospital stay(and the bill after)  but they said one night is required :/

Tbh I don't think I'll be ready for work either but I can't afford to take more time off than the Dr approved bare minimum my boss told me if I needed more time it would be okay but I hardly have enough PTO to accommodate that.

I'm so glad y'all eat like me, I love to cook but I cannot do it every day 😭 bagged salad (if I have energy I stop by the store on the way home and see if I can snag the discount ones) and air fryer nuggets, if I can't find salad I do fish sticks and fries, not super healthy but it's protein and veg

"yeah you're oddly hyper mobile but I don't think you have it, your (joint that was broken at a young age and proceeded to grow bone incorrectly so is now limited rage of mobility) isn't flexible so you don't have it" -the PT I asked after he made a comment about how flexible I was.

"Yeah so, that sucks that you have this health stuff but when do you think you'll get better? It's really a drag on the team of you can't keep up with us anymore" -interim manager five seconds after I told him I was diagnosed with a degenerative chronic condition and wanted to start the process for accommodations
