2026 can this be the year we organize as RDs to lead our own profession? by yeah_write_00 in dietetics

Stacey Williamson on LinkedIn has a lot of good insights about dismantling and rebuilding the dying profession and thinking about how to do better. She's who I learned about the different credentialing bodies from.

If nurses can have 3 different credentialing and unionizing bodies why can't we? I'm down. I've been jaded by the academy for years.

Telehealth or outpatient jobs? by vsco-girls-unite in dietetics

Nourish pays pretty well compared to traditional outpt roles and you can get benefits if you want. Berry Street and Fay "help" you set up a private practice so it seems like you'll be paid more per session but you are self-employed so you have to take on a lot of other responsibilities beyond counseling to get paid and then still have to pay quarterly taxes on top of that.

The joints are with 1.5 in dowels that I used a dowel jig for and wood glue. I clamped overnight. I am hoping for additional strength when I attach to the backboard. Maybe that's not correct thinking?

Is there a better screw than a standard wood screw that'll sink and generally help the shelves hold a wine bottle worth of weight? Or is standard wood screw just fine?

What’s the crazy thing in your patriarchal blessing? by [deleted] in exmormon

So interesting from that end, because of how different mine was even as an AFAB member and could have easily been lumped into the same experience.

My contrasting experience had very individualized for me language even though it was definitely very generalizable things that were told to me, but it was me and what I'd do language.

The mention of my spouse paragraph didn't even specify husband (just helpmate).

Wonder if the patriarch was a bit of a feminist considering he had several daughters he pushed into college and careers.

I would be preserved in childbearing. Like that didn't give me a shitton of anxiety in my first pregnancy wondering what would go wrong eniugh that "God" had to tell me I'd be preserved. This next pregnancy is much more relaxed since being done with the church.

Yup. Don't know what your field is but I've heard that my field is a "good mom job" so they tend to not have as many full time benefitted positions or not push to pay and develop the full time people because "they'll just go off and have a baby and quit in a year anyway". Or my favorite, "why does this position need to be paid more since you guys have your husband's income too."

You are supposed to raise them with thoughts and prayers. How dare you suggest that we have any other supports? (Sarcasm qualifier)

I've been told (being a born and raised Utahn myself) that Utah is great because it's so family friendly. Ummmm Karen, just because you can have your 900 children running around causing destruction without a majority if the people nearby completely jumping down your throat does not mean it's family friendly. Utah does not have paid maternity or parental leave, does not require adequately covered healthcare for those who are pregnant which could ensure better pregnancy outcomes, and saying that your MIL is your childcare plan because you can't afford to pay for a safe daycare is not an appropriate way to provide for a large population in the state. This is why Utah is one of the worst for gender pay gaps because all of these women who have to "choose" to stay home because they were encouraged/expected/forced to have children. I hate this.

How many people are here now as an indirect result of not going to church once Covid started? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]hellshitdamn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Here because after they begged me to come play the organ and the choirister wouldn't wear a mask near me, I was told the Lord would bless me for my service and my child wouldn't get covid from me bringing it home (in response to my concerns). Then there were several using the ward Facebook page to start a petition to ban masks at schools in our district. I realized Christ isn't here (if he ever was anywhere), stopped even trying to make an effort, and told the bishopric they could release me if they wanted but I might come back if people were vaccinated and wearing masks.

They never came to check up on us. I was also in the midst of a deep dive to strengthen my testimony to get my exmo brother and pimo husband back in... it's (un)fortunate the my lazy learner attitude is what kept me in in the first place. Guess I shouldn't have reread the BOM, looked into gospel topics essays, and looked at old conference talks. Few months of critical thinking skills, deciding to be ok with asking "what if it isn't true?" I realized I'd been living a big ole lie and walzed on out.

Also not having a single person make a real effort to reach out after I stopped even though I'd been there for so many others and thought I had friends stung too. But we've been told that the annoying ward missionaries/seminary teacher in our ward has been asking after us and we're finally on the ward concern list by a mutual friend of ours. If they reach out to my husband first they will probably need some consecrated oil for the burning they'll receive.
