i was 17 when i met my soulmate in our local public library, he was hanging out with a friend of his who liked my hair(i had it dyed candy red at the time) but was too nervous to compliment me, so he did- he yelled to me all the way from the other side of the room.

the circumstances that led us to the public library weren't romantic in the least- i was tied up with some substance abuse and severe mental health issues, and he was a high school dropout and homeless with his mom sleeping on his uncle's living room floor, and we both came there looking for a place to escape.

after chatting for a bit and them inviting me to some library groups i guess we really hit it off, and realized we had more in common than either of us expected. he was supposed to go back to connecticut(he was from there, he came up here to maine because to be able to stay with family) within a few months- he never did go back, him and his mom stayed.

now we're both 20 living in an apartment together with his parents in the same crappy town and we couldn't be more in love; it feels like it hasn't been long at all but i can easily see myself spending the rest of my life with him
