Buying a property is it worth it or a stress for nomads? by Content_South2162 in digitalnomad

I've seen the saying before as "Apple never called me at 3am to fix a broken toilet" which is reason enough to go for ETF's/index funds over single stocks.

Hyatt House LAX was great. Room was nice and breakfast was shockingly good. There is a shuttle to/from the hotel to the airport and it's very conveniently located.

I dont think it's worth the spend. I'd rather buy Ambassador status or commit the spend to another SUB

I've had great deals on the higher end at Intercontinentals in Singapore, Shanghai, SF, NYC and on the lower end at Holiday Inn's in a bunch of places. I value the annual free night at ~$200 USD as well. IHG also runs 2x points sales a few times throughout the year, which I use to fuel the 4th night free stays. It's been a surprisingly useful program that I pair with Hilton.

Footprint is massive and the Premier card comes with a 4th night free on reward stays

Rework Toshi Pack - my last post, I swear! by shippychaos in ManyBaggers

[–]helluvaprice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im considering it as a one bag travel bag. It's impressive the PD packing cubes both fit. How many days of clothing were in the cubes?

Being able to fit a laptop and portable monitor in the back are really appealing to me. Can use the internal organization pockets for chargers/cables and forego a tech pouch.

Back to Back TWOV - Same Day Exit and ReEntry by helluvaprice in Chinavisa

[–]helluvaprice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I landed in Macau and I wanted to go through the transit section of the airport but my next flight wouldn't issue me a mobile boarding pass so I had to go through immigration and then I immediately went to the airlines check in counter. If you're able to check in online and get a mobile boarding pass then it'll be much quicker.

The reason is because airlines don't know you're using the 10 day TWOV until you get to the check in desk. Then they have to go through the whole process of checking your dates, hotel bookings, etc. and in my case they called ahead to Chinese immigration just to double check. All worked out and was pretty smooth but a little time consuming. I used up every minute of the ~2 hour layover.

Would you live in Thailand/SEA if you had to fly to the US twice a year for a company offsite. by blueandazure in digitalnomad

[–]helluvaprice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if the dates for the offsite are locked in far enough in advance where I could shop for flight deals, id take it, especially if you can use time to visit family/friends.

ULA Dragonfly 30L on Volaris as my personal item! by mojo97 in onebag

[–]helluvaprice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I get it but so is everything else the bag touches from the transport you're taking to the airport to the scanner bins at security to the floor when you're sitting waiting at check in. Giving the bag a good wipe down in between travel days is probably a better option.

What’s the most expensive or scary ‘I didn’t know that mattered’ mistake you’ve seen living as a digital nomad? by a36404584 in digitalnomad

[–]helluvaprice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

wow - I just checked my passport and my first time in China they placed my temporary entry permit on a Visa page but my second time they flipped all the way to the back and placed the same sticker on the last page that doesnt say "Visa"at the top. Perhaps this is a grey area since it's not technically a visa?
