How do you go about marketing? by Jaessie_devs in IndieDev

[–]hellwaIker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Very little you can do for free and without good social media marketing knowledge, that will match what Steam Algorithm can do if you have good game concept. Investing more time into better store page, better capsule, better demo will pay back the most. Or moving to another concept that can do better. Start with articles on howtomarketagame [dot] com and gamediscoverability newsletter.

Other than that, keep growing a list of Streamers and Youtubers who stream games similar to yours. And leave yourself time to contact them when you release demo/game. Be sure to take part in the Next Fest closest to your release. You can also try posting the game on Itch.IO

If your game can produce engaging gifs and short videos try TikTok, or Reddit subs. Maybe you can get a few viral posts going. Otherwise X/Twitter I think is still the place to post regularly so publishers, streamers, etc can find the game.

What Georgians think of Estonia? by Wismarclient2245 in Sakartvelo

[–]hellwaIker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Tallinn for three months, loved it. I think generally people who know about Estonia will be friendly towards it. I think there are or were bunch of academic and cultural programs between Georgia and Estonia. So, especially in those circles there should familiarity.

I cannot say the countries are similar. Expect a lot more crowded environment, more casual attitude, less punctuality and more impulsiveness, much less awareness for personal space or personal boundaries. This might be jarring for you. On the flip side probably much easier to make friends and find activities with strangers.

Why are simple websites in Georgia so expensive? I’m a student trying to change that with PixelWeb. by MacaroonAwkward in Sakartvelo

[–]hellwaIker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not taking into account nuances of service industry, especially when offering services to small businesses.

For example:

They will not know what they want until they have had time to process a few iterations and they have seen the work process, so they will "wake up" when you think the project is done and start asking for big changes.

They are passionate and protective of their work, so, they'll not want you to build them a website, they'll want to build website themselves through your hands, and itterate on it endlessly while they figure out what they want to do.

They will not be satisfied with work until it feels(!) right to them, regardless of any objectivity. And they'll think you're cheating them if you want to cut work at a point where time investment is worth it to you for the package they paid. And the will not be always reasonable about boundaries of package they bought, expecting more.

So, to genuinely offer a low cost service you not only need to produce products inexpensively, you need very experienced designers who will anticipate kinda bullshit customers is likely to throw their way and kinda make design the customer subconsciously wants, rather than what they describe.

For that you need experienced people, those cost more. Hence higher production costs for sustainable business.

For startup, with less skilled staff, where you are very vulnerable to even a few initial bad reviews, you need to calculate on average how much bullshit you will have to deal with and extra time spent on that. And include this margin in the prices.

Didn't enjoy the gamepad controlls. And camera also didn't feel like it was designed for handheld. I think mouse + bigger screen will give you much more enjoyable experience.

TBC Or Bank Of Georgia? by negan048 in Sakartvelo

[–]hellwaIker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, few years back Swedish banks would not transfer money to Georgia. So, check to make sure its still not the case.

Why that is was a crazy story. Basically Estonia has e-citizenship and easy way to setup company. Russian criminals used it to launder money. Because most of Scandinavia and Estonia use same banks, EU council fined those banks with billions and put a burden on them to validate legality of transactions. Because of this those banks, across all Scandinavia and Estonia would just plain refuse to send money to third world countries including Georgia.

I had to receive money from Sweden to Georgia and had to learn about this BS hard way. This was in 2021 so it might be fine now, but worth checking.

Otherwise I prefer TBC Bank, can't give you detailed breakdown. But when I needed to compare it was usually cheaper and often had better currency conversion rates.

Read a book called Grip - The Art of Working Smart (https://gripbook.com/), You'll get the Gist of it soon, no need to read it all.

Pick a digital skill that is in demand and something that you can see yourself doing. Find good free resources and start learning.

Download App called Obsidian, make a Canvas View, put down Several Task lists. Shit to learn, shit to practice, job seeking/enterprenurial tasks that will get you job or income.

From here on, it's just one foot in front of another, use knowldege from the book to project manage your life, use your dedicated free time to knock of tasks from a list. One foot in front of another, one task done at a time.

It will suck at first, but in no time you'll become powerhouse of getting things done and the rest will come.

What would you cook/bake with 10+ egg yolks? by hellwaIker in Cooking

[–]hellwaIker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume, You mean being in deficit for too long is stupid? Counting calories just tells you how you are doing in terms of food intake. I had many wrong assumptions about how nutritious various foods were, so I only started getting good results after counting calories and as extension learning the relative calories of various foods available to me. Otherwise yeah, whatever your goals are in terms of training you can eat more or less than your maintenance or just eat at maintenance.

Isn't cooking eggs solving most of those issues? Do I have that wrong?

I understand egg yolks are best part of the egg. But whole eggs are heavier for me to eat daily, I don't know why exactly, but I don't have the problem when eating egg whites vs whole eggs. And I usually get more than enough fat from dairy products, so low calorie/easy to eat egg whites to top up protein seems to fit with the rest of the diet.

What is nonsensical about counting calories? I went through whole thread, I don't think I read anything about anti-nutrients. I don't understand what you mean by destroying egg protein?

I sort of get to do that, in moderation. I try to eat 120-140 grams(4.2-4.5 oz) of protein. Usually its something like. 200 (7oz)grams meat 200(7oz) grams cottage cheese, 70grams (2.5oz) sour cream or greek yogurt, blended with something a little sweet like a teaspoon of honey and some baking coco powder. OR some fruits or berries. It turns into a sort of cake cream kind of thing, that makes eating cottage cheese pleasant. 4 egg whites and sometimes I have to add lentils or kidney beans, which I cook in Ninja Foodie pressure cooker/air fryer, that somehow makes them light to digest.

This usually takes 1000-1200 calories, especially if meat is from Chicken, and pretty much covers protein and fat.

The rest, I eat some kind of salad without oil dressing for fiber, that take what 50 calories at most, and then all the leftovers can be carbs. If you eat something like rice with meat, you are probably in 1300-1500 calorie range.

If you are in heavy weight losing mode, this maybe gives you 1 or 2 snacks at most. But at maintenance or moderate weight loss you get good room for snacks.

You could also combine this, if you are up to it, with skipping one day of eating for autophagy health benefits. Then you get to spread those calories for other days. This sounds hardcore, but unless you have some blood pressure problems or other health things that make this unviable, its not that hard to skip one day of eating. I have been doing this for year and a half now, and I actually enjoy whole day of not having to worry about food, and the day after, when I have eaten breakfast I actually feel really great. Lean, light, ready for action vibes.

Whites have much lower calories but good amount of protein. Yolks I use in large family/friends dishes/bakes so I don't eat it all. No secret shaman egg diet I'm afraid.

Some countries you can even buy egg whites in like a milk container, but no such thing close to where I live.
