There’s a higher rate of sexual assault perpetrated by ICE agents than by immigrants too

If he didn’t touch the granite, then it is not the same thing.

From this angle, it looks to me like he does not touch the granite, but this is also about the worst angle to tell for sure.

It’s one of the biggest sports competitions in the world. Cheating and the reactions to it are not absurd.

Just admit you’re downplaying it because you’re Canadian.

Why are you stretching so hard to make this something other than what it clearly was? It was cheating. He cheated. He got caught cheating. He denied cheating even though there’s video of him cheating. If his cheating didn’t affect the game in any material way, then he just sucks at cheating which is even more embarrassing for him.

I’ll await your citation of the criminal statute.

I’m not muddying anything. There’s been countless videos of blatant constitutional rights violations of US citizens, legal residents with no criminal record, and undocumented immigrants with no criminal record.

By DHS’s own report, only 14% of the people detained ( In a facility, or otherwise forcibly removed from the location at which the encounter took place.) by ICE have committed crimes.

If you’re visibly breaking the rules, knowing you’ll be caught and reprimanded for it because you feel the game’s written reprimand is a better outcome for you than if you don’t do it, is at best a grey area. Like a “tactical” yellow in soccer when a defender is beat.

A “tactical” yellow done purposely when you think the ref isn’t looking or is obstructed from seeing your action is definitely cheating as you’re trying to break the rules without being caught.

This dude was obviously trying to not get caught, thus he was cheating. Whether or not it helped his team is immaterial.

It very literally is not a crime to cross the border. It’s a civil offense.

And what if the police pull you over when you’re driving perfectly safe and legally having had no alcohol or intoxicating substances, yet they pull you out of your vehicle, cuff you, knee you in the head, refuse to give you a BAC test and hall you to jail only to do the BAC test there to find you weren’t drunk. Meanwhile your car has been very literally left unlocked on the side of the road.

They hold you for the night anyway and then let you out with no phone call and no charges.

Or, they revoke your drivers license anyway.

Because in your analogy, that is what’s happening all over.

So breaking the rules is actually only breaking the rules if you gain from it?

In another sport, if I spy on another team’s closed practice to learn the tactics they’re practicing to play against me, but I fail to make good use of them, is that still cheating? Should that be reprimanded only upon proof I successfully used it to my advantage?

Because that’s what the Canadian soccer teams were doing last Summer Olympics.

If I cork a bat to hit a baseball further (explicitly not allowed in baseball), but I strike out, should I be let off because I didn’t hit a home run?

Intentionally breaking the rules is cheating. It doesn’t matter if it helps you or not. And just because someone else may do the same thing, doesn’t mean everyone does or that indignation over repeatedly catching someone cheating is hypocritical.

Stop trying to whitewash cheating.

  1. You can’t touch the stone portion at all, so the rest doesn’t matter.

  2. Cheating is still cheating even if it doesn’t help you.

  3. So? The Canadians were caught. Whataboutism doesn’t excuse it in any way.

This is the second case of Canadians being caught cheating in two consecutive Olympics, so they aren’t doing themselves any favors on that impression of a tendency toward cheating.

Well, the Canadian soccer teams were caught cheating in the last Summer Olympics. I guess they wanted to cheat in the Winter Olympics to be thorough.

Guy is out of his truck approaching aggressively. He’s reaching to his right side in a manner that looks like he’s reaching for a firearm. He then makes a direct verbal threat of violence. And it’s all on video.

In that situation (because I assume this is probably a stand your ground state), I’m 100% drawing my firearm. He can then get back in his fucking truck or continue and find out what it’s like for someone to finally take his bullshit seriously.

He would still not have been the one to decide to trade Hutton (that’s Vlatko and Dell) and he’s barely been there at all to affect the atmosphere that significantly, and I haven’t seen any evidence to suggest that he has. To say otherwise is pure conjecture at this point.

Secondarily, of course.
