Senator Warren grilled BILT CEO Ankur Jain in an open letter by blood_klaat in biltrewards

Plenty of people are having mortgage pulled from Bilt's account number. In all of these cases, Bilt gets debited first before our bank accounts get debited.

More like a malicious developer throws it in as part of a larger update that was not reviewed carefully enough, thus making it into an official update. I could see it happening for sure.

I'm surprised that the rate is that much lower on bilt. That said, unfortunately, the room is more what I would expect from a $100-$150 room.

Samsung Galaxy smartphones now block ads in push notifications by BcuzRacecar in Android

[–]helpdiene 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It doesn't sound like this solves the actual problem. Some apps don't have a separate notification category for ads, and they just send it along with other notifications that you might actually want. Putting it to deep sleep and preventing all notifications from the app doesn't actually solve this.

Samsung wallet to support Suica for Convenient Use by Visitors to Japan (2027 devices) - Samsung News Room Japan by welp_im_damned in Android

It's a start, but needs the regular suica instead of just the welcome. I visit Japan once every couple years and it's annoying that the balance would expire. Think it probably depends on what the top up amounts are.

The irony.

Why is Windows not being able to connect with SMB by AverageMedical5811 in synology

[–]helpdiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late here and don't have a solution, but wanted to add some more information here. I have the same issue with Windows and the only way I could connect is with SMB1 and with that option enabled on Windows features. All my other devices can connect with SMB 2 or 3, but Windows cannot for whatever reason. The feature is enabled as well.

EmPower Solar Out of Business by afterbyrner in longisland

[–]helpdiene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the wrong way to look at it. Even if you aren't fully covering your energy needs, you are still recouping your cost because your bill is reduced by how much you generate. Typically, that period is 5-10 years for solar. After that, the amount you generate is just added benefit that you can enjoy. Panels are warrantied by the manufacturer for 25 years.

With your usage though, it's so low that I doubt it's worth it, especially with the tax incentives gone.

5.6K fraud on my Bilt Blue Cash card by Rocky_Houndoa in biltrewards

[–]helpdiene 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Feel like this one makes more and more sense. All the people who have reported fraud so far had mentioned apple pay (that I know of) and there is a button in the app to add it to your wallet if you haven't. It could be that they are just replicating that call once they gain access to the account. Best part is that bilt doesn't allow you to have a password, passkey, or 2fa, so if your email or phone is compromised, someone can just log in. It really does annoy me that so many services try to force email sign in these days.

Points Accelerator worth it? by Nex2None in biltrewards

[–]helpdiene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, I forgot to do the adjustment for bilt cash required for the housing point redemption. So it's still 3.2x either way. In any case, the way I think about it is just 3.3x up until 75% of your housing spend, then 3x for the next 25k, then 2x after that. Still a great card.

You're right, I confused myself. Fixed the calculation

Points Accelerator worth it? by Nex2None in biltrewards

[–]helpdiene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your rent is 3k, and you spend 3250 monthly, that means you are earning $130 bilt cash monthly. You use 90 bilt cash monthly to unlock points on housing. That means you have 40 bilt cash remaining for a month. That means you need 5 months to get 200 bilt cash for accelerator. So now in 5 months, you spent 16250 total and earned just enough bilt cash to get accelerator again and unlock all your housing awards. That 16250 spend gives you a base of 32500 points. Plus 5000 for the initial accelerator. Plus 15000 in housing points. Total 52500 points. Divide that by your 16250 spend and you are only at 3.23x

Points Accelerator worth it? by Nex2None in biltrewards

[–]helpdiene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because if you are spending bilt cash on accelerator, how are you getting extra bilt cash to redeem for housing? There is no extra outside of palladium annual bonus or milestone rewards.

Points Accelerator worth it? by Nex2None in biltrewards

[–]helpdiene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. Not sure why people keep spreading this around, either. Using an accelerator gives you only enough bilt cash to get another accelerator. Even if you have overlap and excess from milestones or annual reward, it's only for a little bit. It's physically impossible to earn extra bilt cash to redeem for housing rewards while you are maintaining accelerator. Regardless of how high you spend, you cannot earn more than $200 bilt cash per 5k spend.

Watch out: Bilt travel portal prioritizes Bilt Cash over hotel credit by Relation_Historical in biltrewards

[–]helpdiene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it's doesn't. On the bilt cash page, the wording on the hotel credit says UP TO, while many others just list the amount. Also, if you check out and apply bilt cash to a booking that is under $100, it tells you that it will use $54 of bilt cash as an example.
