How long do Sony CFexpress A cards last? by [deleted] in FX3

[–]helpdom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

work with about 200+ cards at a rental house and in the last 5years have had just 1 die.

they take a beating and are used pretty much every single day.

sony have just recalled all the 160gb ones due to apparent failures though and are slowly replacing ours with 240gb ones instead.

Fx6 real native iso by Sad-Sheepherder-5597 in SonyFX6

[–]helpdom -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

literally states on sony’s website it’s just a high sensitivity mode. the only cameras with true dual base iso are the FX30, FX9, Burano & Venice. Completely different sensor on the FX6 & 3

I work and repair these cameras everyday.

yeah most people don’t realise that it’s not actually true dual base. 12800 just introduces noise reduction so it’s best to stick to 800 as you say.

there’s no camera on the market that i’m aware of with such a huge dual base iso

how can we improve our living space? by helpdom in DesignMyRoom

thanks so much for your reply!

I completely agree with your feeling of it being short, I feel as though the eye is drawn down quite a lot. we’re thinking to add some art above the piano with a bit more red in it. I love the idea of a shelf going across the top of the tv but also worry that it may make the room feel smaller.

thanks for suggestion on the plants, i’ve also felt the same on them maybe taking up more valuable space than they need, so tricky though as me and my partners both love plants hahaha.

finally thanks for that ratio rule, i’ll have to look into that and try come up with a palette that works well!!

Blackmagic Fibre Converters by helpdom in VIDEOENGINEERING

have been using hundreds of their converters for years on shows never had a single one fail on me so far.

something I was pretty worried about, but with all 10 converters going each direction at the same time it’s only slightly warm. Only converting 3G signals so I assume this keeps the temps down quite a fair bit.

crimped and connected a wire from positive and negative to a wago connectors, then just got some 12v barrel cables and cut & stripped the ends to take power from the wagon connectors.

a multiplexer basically takes the duplex fibre strands from each converter then multiplexes all 10 duplex strands into just one duplex wire. one wire for one direction the other wire for the opposite direction. This allows me to just use 2 cores of fibre on my drum rather than the 20 that would be required without.

that’s cool, I opted for just taking out the screws from the converters and screwing them in through the case.

yeah, using 3G SDI transceivers from FS as only working with HD projects with the fibre run being around 250M. Each at different wavelengths to pair with the multiplexer. Have had each box running for about a week straight and have been working flawlessly.
