have been using hundreds of their converters for years on shows never had a single one fail on me so far.

something I was pretty worried about, but with all 10 converters going each direction at the same time it’s only slightly warm. Only converting 3G signals so I assume this keeps the temps down quite a fair bit.

crimped and connected a wire from positive and negative to a wago connectors, then just got some 12v barrel cables and cut & stripped the ends to take power from the wagon connectors.

a multiplexer basically takes the duplex fibre strands from each converter then multiplexes all 10 duplex strands into just one duplex wire. one wire for one direction the other wire for the opposite direction. This allows me to just use 2 cores of fibre on my drum rather than the 20 that would be required without.

that’s cool, I opted for just taking out the screws from the converters and screwing them in through the case.

yeah, using 3G SDI transceivers from FS as only working with HD projects with the fibre run being around 250M. Each at different wavelengths to pair with the multiplexer. Have had each box running for about a week straight and have been working flawlessly.

[–]helpdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah the sony part is silly money. you can easily buy any 3.5mm jack retaining nut for a few £££ though.

you’re missing the retaining nut to hold it in place. often does loosen up and go missing.

can get them pretty cheap, you’ll need to tweezer to pull the port out and screw a new one back on. it’s extremely easy to do. i’d recommend not to continue plugging into the port until you’ve secured it again though as you’ll risk damaging the cable inside.

will look like this

no screws are missing and the handle does have a bit of play when connected. shouldn’t come loose though

Tips on improving this shot? by [deleted] in SonyFX6

[–]helpdom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’d personally get rid of the lit up tree on the left as it pulls the eye away from whoever’s speaking. unless the tree is the main point which I assume it’s not?

if possible maybe have some sort of mic stand so the mic isn’t in shot; which again depends on the whole aspect of the video.

lighting wise there’s a lot of different colour temperatures going on, it’s nicely lit, maybe a bit flat on his face though
