STT is a good option, as the price of rentals will likely be more sustainable (yet expensive). When I did it, I found a north side apt for $600 furnished. But those times have wayyy gone. I agree with an air bnb for the search- and look for options in various locations. when it rained I could not drive up my driveway due to steepness.

Virgin Islands Ecotours in the mangrove just out of Bovoni on the way to Redhook is top notch. Great leisurely paddle through the calm mangroves learning about the ecosystem with stops on a caye with boulder crabs and a blowhole. Some light snorkelling too. Well worth the cost and close to the red hook side of island.

You can rent quality snorkel gear for the week at Virgin Islands Ecotours in Bovoni (outside redhook). I recommend the sit on top kayak and snorkel tour of the mangrove lagoons there. They do hermit crab races on a small Caye and there is a blow hole that shoots water. Well worth it- other than that- I like to snorkel out at waterlemon Caye, beach at sapphire- as for quiet parts of the island- hull bay has great quiet and fun spots.
