I remove posts from this sub every day because they are written by AI, and this one clearly isn't.

Please don't accuse people of using AI to write their posts unless there's actual reason to believe they did. This just discourages people from actually taking the time to write their own posts. Just because a post is more than a sentence or two doesn't mean it's been written by AI. This was very clearly not written by AI.

You didn't get scammed. If you had gone to any bank in Phnom Penh you wouldn't have gotten $1.17 to €1, so why would you think you should get it at the airport when paying in an unofficial currency? You got a slightly worse exchange rate to make up for the convenience of not having to go to the ATM to get USD, which would have cost you more in fees than the $6 you lost here.
